I recently got the chance to head along to El Gato Negro Tapas launch on Castle Street which I was really excited for as I'd previously been to their old location behind the town hall years and years ago so I really intrigued to see what they new location was going to look like and if there were any changes to the menu happening with the location change.
The new El Gato Negro Tapas is located on Castle Street just opposite the Ivy so it's easy to find whether you're wanting to head there during a day full of shopping and exploring the city or if you're fancy getting dressed up and going out for dinner. It's a 2-floor bar and restaurant and it even has outdoor seating making it perfect now that we're going into the warmer weather, plus they're open 7 days a week from 12pm onwards. They have frequent offers on so you can get more bang for your buck, they currently have a 3 for £20 on select dishes from Mon-Sat as well as Tipsy Tapas on Friday & Saturday with 90 minutes on bottomless drinks and 3 tapas drinks.
I had the pleasure of going to El Gato Negro Tapas on their launch night to see the new Castle Street location and was blown away with how amazing it looks inside. As you walk in, there is access to the 2nd floor but also the bar immediately on your right with bigger tables for dining further back in the restaurant. I don't know who decorated the new location but it is absolutely stunning inside, jewel tones, plush seating as well as plenty of greenery.
On the night, we were welcomed in with a glass of prosecco while we found a table to sit down. Once we were sat at a table, the lovely staff were bringing round different tapas for us to try as well as bringing different drinks round. We got to try a couple of dishes before they brought around some sangria which I can confirm was delicious and didn't really taste like alcohol. We tried the white version but they also have red and rose sangria so no matter what type of wine you like, there's one for everyone. We got the chance to try salt cod croquettes which I was surprised that I actually liked it as I'm not a huge fish person. We also got the chance to try these delicious cheese and ham croquettes as well as the mini Catalan sausages which were so tasty and a few other bits that I can't remember the name of.
I really like that on their menu, everything is split into the different food groups for the tapas to help you choose the different dishes you might want and makes it easier for the tapas newbies on which dishes to go for. It was such a great night, the food and drinks were so good. I need to head back and try out the rest of their menu as well as the cocktails as they have some delicious sounding ones including ones with cotton candy. It's such a great addition to Castle Street and is going to be a great place to head along to with friends or family.
