It's officially September and the rain is back so it's the time of year to start having roast dinners regularly! Recently Nova Scotia got in touch inviting me in as they'd just relaunched their Sunday Roast experience and it came at the perfect time for my best friend's birthday so of course we had to head along for a little birthday celebration.
Nova Scotia is located in Mann Island which is a short walk from James Street train station and Liverpool One so it's the perfect spot to nip in for food either before or after spending some time in the city centre. Depending on the weather, they have indoor and outdoor seating so when the sunshine is actually here you can enjoy your drinks and food outside. The location is also dog friendly which is perfect if you've been out walking your pooch and want to stop in for some food and drinks.
I'm alcohol-free because of my health and my bestie was very hungover from a bottomless brunch so we both decided to stick to mocktails during the meal and Nova Scotia definitely have the best mocktails and the greatest selection in the city centre. I ended up going for the flower of eden mocktail and Fliss went for the dragon punch mocktail. Both of these were so delicious and a great alcohol-free option.
In the roast dinner experience, you get the choice of roast beef, roast chicken, pork belly, or nut roast. All of which come with crispy roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, stuffing balls, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Now it's Liverpool so of course, the roast dinner experience comes with a bowl of Scouse which is a great compliment to the roast dinner. I ended up going for roast chicken and Fliss went for roast beef, both of the meats were cooked perfectly being tasty without being dry. The sides were the perfect addition and I need to find out how they make the gravy cause it was delicious.
To finish off the meal, we had to have a little sweet treat. I ended up going for the chocolate brownie with some ice cream cause who wouldn't when it looks that good and Fliss went for the nutella cheesecake which is a changing special so it's regularly changing up depending on the time of the week you pop in. The chocolate brownie was the perfect size cause it was rich but very tasty. I think it's been my go-to dessert every time I've visited Nova Scotia. I found the prices were very reasonable, the roast dinners are between £17-18 depending on the meat you go for, the desserts are £6.50 and the mocktails were between £6-7 and were very generous sizes so it's was a very purse-friendly meal.
