Does anyone else think we all blinked and August was over?! But with the end of the month, it means one thing, it's time to share what I've been loving during August. Between a fibromyalgia flare up and a bad bout of bicep tendonitis, I haven't done a whole lot except working and just existing (I know, me who preaches self care hasn't really done many this month!) so this month's favourites is basically some makeup and skincare favourites.
SoBeautyStuff Makeup Brushes
I literally only wrote about these yesterday but I've been trying them out over the past month and I'm absolutely obsessed with these brushes from SoBeautyStuff. I've been using the So Complete collection and they are the softest makeup brushes and they're also vegan and cruelty-free. What more could you want?! I've washed these brushes a couple of times since I received them and I always worry about washing new brushes because I'm worried about the bristles falling out, thankfully less than a handful of bristles fell out from the whole 18 piece brush set which is great as normally I find that that can come out of 1 or 2 brushes from different brands on the first wash.
Dermalogica Precleanse Oil
I have been using this Precleanse oil from Dermalogica as the first step in my double cleanse routine for the past couple of years since I became a Dermalogica Skinfluencer and honestly I couldn't be without this in my skincare routine. Not only does it melt away even my most hardcore waterproof mascara but it doesn't irritate my eyes or leave me with that milky film over my eyes when I open them. I have the 150ml bottles of the Precleanse oil and even though I use it morning and night, this bottle has seriously lasted me forever and a day, you only need a pump to take off an entire face of makeup. During the colder, rainy months this oil leaves my skin feeling so soft, there's none of that stripped skin feeling.
Dermalogica Smart Response Serum
I've been testing out the Smart Response serum for the past couple of month's and I actually wrote about on here back in July but it's still staying in my rotation of favourite skincare. I've loved using this serum in the morning regardless of whether I'm in work or off. I've mainly found that the Smart Response serum really helps with hydration and soothing my skin throughout the day. I'll be excited to see how it helps with firming and brightening as I've used it for longer.
Dermalogica Clear Start Serum
I was kindly sent this Clear Start serum at the beginning of the year after my consultation with one of the virtual consultations with the Dermalogica's expert skin therapists. Since I've been back at work, I've suffered with maskne so much and this serum is the only skincare product that seems to help me tackle it. It's filled with lots of ingredients that help banish any breakouts and breakout causing bacteria whilst also being gentle enough to prevent any over drying of the skin around your breakout.
Dermalogica Biolumin-C Gel Moisturiser
This is a new edition to my skincare routine this month but the Biolumin-C gel moisturiser is the latest product launch from Dermalogica and is such a great addition to the Biolumin-C range. I love that my skin is glowing immediately after I apply it and I've noticed that with more continued use, my face is brighter and more glowy than it was before I started using the Biolumin-C moisturiser. I love that Dermalogica have brought out a gel moisturiser as it's so lightweight and cooling to apply, I literally find it melts into my skin without loads of rubbing in. I have tried all of the products currently in the Biolumin-C range and honestly my skin reacts so well and looks the best it ever has when I'm using the Biolumin-C products in my skincare routine.
The Inkey List Haircare
I received a couple of The Inkey List haircare products when they first launched and I've been using them ever since. Both the Peptide Volumizing serum and PCA Bond Repair treatment are designed to be used post-wash and that's how I've been using it but you can also add the Peptide Volumizing serum to boost your shampoo. I love popping a little bit of this Peptide serum on before I dry my hair and it really helps give my hair some lightweight volume without it looking greasy. Now for those of you that don't know, during 2019/20 I was on the Cerelle contraceptive pill to help try and control my awful migraines and unfortunately it caused my hair to thin out dramatically. Since I switched medications, my hair has slowly been recovering and I've found I've got a lot of soft baby hairs that look unruly when my hair is freshly washed but I've loved using the PCA Bond Repair treatment because I can pop it on my damp hair and it just smooths it out and looks less crazy but it also helps my hair look healthier and more smoothed out, no more baby hair frizz!
Antipodes Manuka Honey Eye Cream
I was kindly gifted this Manuka Honey eye cream from Antipodes at the beginning of the year and I've been using it twice a year since then and I've still got about 1/3 left of the jar. My eyes are really sensitive and I have to be careful as some eye creams can irritate and my eyes will be teary all day. This Manuka Honey eye cream leaves my under-eyes feeling so soft and hydrated, it also makes the perfect base for my concealer.
Dr PawPaw Overnight Lip Treatment
I have been looking for an overnight lip treatment for ages and whilst I've been eyeing the Laneige ones that everyone raves about, I ended up going for this Dr PawPaw Overnight lip mask mainly because when it launched they had an offer on it. Now this isn't to be scared of cause it does come out of the tube as a really thick balm but as soon as you apply it, it reacts with your body heat and melts into your lips. I love that is not only leaves my lips super soft in the morning, it also helps repair them from being dried out after back to back 13hr shifts in a face mask.
