This Winter I've been testing out the Ultracalming range from Dermalogica that is completely brand new to me that they kindly sent out to me after my facial in the treatment room at Flannels Liverpool and after a little bit of testing, I thought I would share my first impressions with you all. So if you're skins been irritated by the cold weather, constant changes in temperature with heating inside and cold breeze outside or is just generally more sensitive then this Ultracalming range might be right up your street.
Ultracalming Cleanser
With having pretty dry skin, I have to be very careful about cleansers because anything too strong can cause my skin to feel stripped and with that squeaky feeling. Thankfully with the Ultracalming Cleanser it doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or stripped of any hydration. This cleanser is a white cleanser that is thicker and more creamier in texture which is perfect for my dry, irritated skin cause the gel/cream cleansers seem to be more nourishing whilst also cleansing my skin. The Ultracalming Cleanser is designed to be a non-foaming cleanser that can help calm and cool reactive, sensitive or over processed skin, depending on your skin you can either wash it off as normal or massage it into your skin then wipe it off with cotton rounds.
I've especially loved using this cleanser in the evening because it's got such a relaxing scent as it's got lavender extract included in the formula. I've also really enjoyed applying this onto dry skin and massaging it in for a good minute before washing it off with my bare face sponges from LilSpa which are super soft sponges that can be used during cleansing your skin or removing makeup. If my skin gets red and irritated, it's mainly on the very front of my cheeks just under my eyes and I really like how this cleanser calms the redness and soothes my skin.
Ultracalming Mist
I'm a big fan of facial mists so I was really excited to test out the Ultracalming Mist as I thought it'd be particularly helpful with how irritated my skin can get with the face masks at work. This facial mist is a soothing, hydrating mist that helps calm redness and sensitivity whilst helping to support a functioning skin barrier to help minimise future flare ups. It's filled with oat, botanicals and aloe which help to soothe and strengthen your skin whilst also supporting a natural moisturise balance in your skin.
I ended up decanting this Ultracalming Mist into a smaller spray bottle so that I could keep some of it in my locker at work so I can spritz it on during my breaks. At home, I really like keeping this facial mist in the fridge and then spritzing it on then popping my hyaluronic acid serum on top as it's helped to lock in moisture whilst keeping it cool also soothes my skin. Similarly to the cleanser, it has a really nice calming, relaxing scent so I find it goes lovely alongside the Sound Sleep Cocoon in my night skincare routine.
Ultracalming Calm Water Gel
I think my favourite part of the Ultracalming range has got to be the Calm Water Gel and I've had the most compliments on my skin on the days that I use it. It's a super lightweight gel moisturiser that melts into your skin and helps to provide your skin with a barrier against environmental stressors, it contains dual hyaluronic acid technology that works on the different layers of your skin surface layers to help increase the moisturise levels in your skin and lock it in.
I've never quite tried a moisturiser like the Calm Water Gel, I love that it starts as a gel then as soon as you start massaging it in it melts into water and is fully absorbed into your skin within 30 seconds, leaving your skin feeling silky soft without any greasiness or stickiness. I've gotten so many compliments on how glowy my skin has looked on the days that I've worn this on my makeup free days at work. I love how lightweight and nourishing this moisturiser, it leaves my skin feeling hydrated all day without feeling like I've got a layer of skincare on my face. Recently I've been getting some stinging on certain points on my cheeks, thankfully this Calm Water Gel is really soothing and I don't notice any pilling occurring when I layer it with my other skincare.
