It's not very often that I actually go out for dinner and have a Sunday roast so I was really excited when Nova Scotia got in touch inviting me in to visit and try out their Sunday roast Experience and share with you all what I thought. I brought along a wonderful friend of mine to help review the veggie option that Nova Scotia offer so whether you're a meat eater, veggie or vegan they've got an option for you.

Nova Scotia is a wonderful restaurant that is situated on Mann Island and is literally a few minutes walk from James Street train station and Liverpool One. I really like the decor inside Nova Scotia, it's such a calm relaxing environment even on a Sunday morning when it's full of families and dogs. Not only do they have their usual menus but they also do special events, like their doggy brunch which you can find on their website. All of the staff are so friendly and can't do enough to make your time at Nova Scotia enjoyable.
When we arrived we enjoyed a couple of cocktails and the halloumi popcorn while we chatted and browsed through the menu.As a starter the halloumi popcorn with red pepper mayo was the perfect amount to be shared between the two of us, they were so delicious and perfectly cooked. On the Sunday Roast Experience menu, they offer roast beef, roast chicken, pork belly, and nut roast. I decided to go for the roast chicken and my friend went for the veggie option, the nut roast. All of the roasts come with a side of Scouse (they do have veggie and vegan options available), stuffing, roast potatoes, seasonal veggies, a Yorkshire pudding and gravy.
I had a whole half a chicken with my roast dinner and meat was perfectly cooked, my only niggle was that I wished the skin was a bit more crispy which is just a personal preference with my roast dinners. My friend regularly cooks nut roasts for herself and she was really impressed with the nut roast Nova Scotia made, it wasn't too dry and the pieces were chopped just finely enough. Whilst we enjoyed our meals, we tried a variety of the cocktails, I can confirm the espresso martini and berry spritz cocktails were amazing. To finish off we went for the signature brownie and cheesecake special, I can confirm the brownie was absolutely delicious and I will definitely be having it again on my next visit.
Overall, we loved the Nova Scotia Sunday roast experience. We had such a wonderful experience and the food was delicious, we used it as my belated birthday celebration. I've tried both the brunch and Sunday roast experience so far, I just need to go back and try out the rest of the standard menu. Every visit I have to Nova Scotia they always blow me away, from the food to the cocktails even down to how incredibly nice the staff are. I'll definitely be heading back soon!
