I haven't been doing a lot of social things later thanks to my chronic health conditions but it was my best friends birthday at the end of August and it's been a little while since we caught up in person so decided to head down to Hot Shots in Liverpool for a fun evening of games, food and cocktails to celebrate as they kindly invited me down to try out their food/drink menus and spending the evening trying their AR darts and various arcade games.
Hot Shots
Hot Shots is located in Cain's Brewery Building and is a brand new AR and interactive darts venue hosting games, great drinks and delicious food. It has 3 bars inside and even 3 private rooms with up to 13 lanes to play darts so it's perfect if you want somewhere to celebrate birthday's, hen do's, days out with your friends or even work night outs. They have everything on their menu's from mini bites, all the way to bottomless brunch. They're open 5 days a week for 10-12 hours a day with them being closed on Monday and Tuesday.
We ended up letting our competitive sides come out and got distracted playing several rounds of the AR dart games and laughing before we ordered some drinks. Fliss went for the disco inferno and I allowed myself one alcoholic cocktail and went for the raspberry beret, Fliss definitely won with the cocktails cause hers came out flaming! I really like that Hot Shots split their cocktail menu into different sections whether you're looking for something spicy, sweet, fruity or strong. We both loved our cocktails and we decided to play several more rounds of darts because we couldn't decide on what to order for food and you can see below why the food was so hard to choose.
For food, we decided to go for a couple of small plates that we could nibble on as we're playing. We went for the honey & mustard sausages, halloumi fries and even some cheesy fries. I'm not usually a sausage person and I was surprised with how much I loved the honey & mustard sausages plus the cheesy fries were so good that they were devoured within minutes of them being put on the table. For their mains, Hot Shots have burgers, pizza, loaded fries, wings and hot dogs. I ended up going for a classic cheese pizza cause I'm basic and Fliss went for a cheeseburger, both of which were so delicious but I was so full from the small plates that we did end up having to take some pizza home. Whilst we were finishing off our meal and our last few rounds of darts, Fliss decided to go for the pretty in pink cocktail which legit looked like Barbie in a cup but tasted so delicious. I did also try out their mocktails which were absolutely delicious even if I can't remember any of their names!
Once we'd finished eating and playing AR darts, we headed across to the multi-level arcade which is connected to Hot Shots called ArCains. The arcades have several levels including some +18 sections which have more unique or limited edition games, they even have a huge pac-man game, shuffleboard, all of the arcade games and consoles that I used to play growing up as well as having PC games.
The staff at ArCains were really helpful and gave us a little tour of the different floors because neither of us had every been, before we were left to wander around and explore the different games. I grew up playing on games consoles like nintendo 64 consoles, playing Mario Kart and Spiro. We were initially going to stay and play for an hour and before we knew it, we'd been playing for hours which did include playing on some Japanese music games.
We had such a wonderful, fun evening at Hot Shots and ArCains. We literally could have spent all day there and are currently planning a full day at the arcades with dinner after at Hot Shots as you can literally loose all track of time in ArCains. It's definitely something that is worth visiting regardless of whether you're a die hard gamer or you like some of the old school games like me.
