The weekend always calls for trying new places to visit for brunch and this week it called for a date morning trying out the new brunch menu created by award winning executive chef Christina Konstantopoulou and it's time to share with you all what we thought of the brunch menu.
The new brunch menu was created by Christina Konstantopoulou, the executive chef at the Sir Thomas Hotel and is available all day from 8am to give you the chance to try flavours from around the world while enjoying breakfast or lunch with your favourite people.
Of course we had to start brunch with some coffee and trying one of their freshly made berry smoothies because we were up early for a Sunday and I can't start the morning without a nice strong coffee. I can be a bit picky with smoothies as it's very easy for them to become watery depending on which fruit is used in it. Whilst I loved the presentation of the smoothie and mostly loved the taste of it, I did find it a tad on the watery side, probably because of something like too much kiwi being in the smoothie so it did take some getting used to. I must say that I loved the selection of fresh fruit including dragon fruit and passionfruit that was arranged on the top, it really elevated the smoothie and made it feel a lot fancier to drink.
We were torn whether to go for sweet or savoury dishes for our brunch so we decided to do a little bit of both. We went for the caramelised banana french toast, avocado and zaatar french toast, and the ham hock zucchini okonomiyaki to share between the two of us. I can confirm that the caramelised french toast was incredible and so tasty, I loved the addition of the caramelised banana and meringue. It really elevated it and made it so much nicer than your bog standard french toast, it also wasn't heavy so you didn't need to go take a nap immediately after eating.
I am not usually a fan of ham and even I was pleasantly surprised by the ham hock zucchini okonomiyaki, it includes ham hock, chorizo crumb, poached eggs, chilli hollandaise, and caramelised onions. It was devoured not long after the photos were taken. Can you really go wrong having avocado and scrambled egg toast for brunch?! It's such a good selection with the cherry tomatoes, the only downside was the toast that came out with it was slightly burnt as you can see in the photos but there was enough was fine to eat that we could still try it. I was really impressed about the combination as sometimes I can find avocado quite bland but Christina made it actually taste delicious especially with the scrambled egg (another thing I'm very hit and miss on).
I was really impressed by the menu, executive chef Christina and the staff working at Sir Thomas Hotel couldn't have been more kind and helpful, they went above and beyond to make our morning having brunch the best it could possibly be. I can't wait to head back and try out the rest of their menu and a few of their cocktails on another date night.
