Life dating someone in the hospitality industry means some occasions are often spent alone or with friends instead so this year I spent Valentine's with one of my best friends as a belated Galentine's trying out the Pudding Club from Leaf Smithdown. So let's get on with the review and tell you guys what we thought of it.
If you didn't know Leaf has several locations over Liverpool and the Wirral and they also host a variety of events every month which you can find in the What's On section of their website, they run their Pudding Club over two days, once during the month, usually in the middle of the month. Each month their Pudding Club has a different theme which keeps things exciting especially if you want to go on a regular basis, you're not experiencing the same thing. This year, the Pudding Club was Valentine's themed because why not when it ran on the 14th and 15th February.
The Leaf Pudding Club features five courses of dessert with a sampling of loose leaf tea with every course. We arrived early as we came straight from work so we decided to indulge with a cocktail each while we waiting for everyone to arrive. I can confirm that the Lychee Rose cocktail was delicious and I love that Leaf incorporate their tea infusions into their cocktails, this one has the rose petal infusion.
I think my favourite dish has got to be the baked passionfruit cheesecake and my favourite tea is a tie between the prickly pear tea and the love tea. We were genuinely surprised by the portion sizes at first but as we worked our way through the courses, we understood why they were the size they were. Each course is enough that you get several mouthfuls with each dessert and every course has a sampling of different tea. If you're not a huge fan of the loose leaf tea, they do come round and give you the option to pour out what's left of the tea you don't like before the next course is served.
Now I've never been to Leaf for their Pudding Club so I won't lie prior to getting there, me and my bestie were discussing that it might not actually fill us up and we might have to do a late night food run. We were so surprised that after five small courses of dessert, we were stuffed. I'm definitely going to be going back and especially with themed nights, it's perfect if you want to gift the event to someone else.
Have you been to a Pudding Club before?
