A lot has changed recently in my life and prior to mysteriously getting pretty sick with my asthma, thankfully one good thing that has happened to me lately is that two of my best friends have moved back up from Brighton and before getting sick, I got the chance to head along to the Tempest on Tithebarn quiz night with them both and I thought I would share it with you all cause it was such a fun night.

If you didn't know, Tempest on Tithebarn have now started offering a weekly quiz night every Monday from 6.30pm for only £2 a player with the top prize being £100. I loved bringing along two of my closest friends as I was able to introduce them to some new places after they moved up North but also they were able to give me their opinions on the vegan food available at Tempest. When you arrive for the quiz night, when you pay the host they will show you which app to download and get you all set up ready to go. Then all you have to do is pick a team name, photo and song then you're ready to go once everyone has arrived.

The quiz night revolved around the question being read by the host then you answered on the app and it was the fastest correct answer that scored the bonus points which help you to climb to leader board on top of the points you get for guessing the answer correctly. The app allows Tempest to feature a variety of questions in a combination of guessing the first letter of the answer correctly, guessing the person from a picture, and putting the answer in the right order style questions with a running leaderboard at the end of every round. Whoever wins first place for each question has their chosen song played while their team photo shows up on everyone's app. We got so competitive doing this and we loved how creative everyone got with their team names. Considering we're pretty much quiz night newbies, we managed to get 9th place.

When we got to Tempest, we ordered some cocktails and I can confirm that the signature Tempest cocktail is going to be my go-to drink for the summer, it's something we got taught how to make at the cocktail masterclass here and it's just so refreshing and easy to sip on during the warm, sunny weather, it's perfect for this time of year. It includes cassis, absolute raspberri, fresh lemon juice, prosecco and lemonade. It's so good that I even convinced my two friends to try it out and love it. Even if this cocktail isn't for you, Tempest on Tithebarn have such a big variety of cocktails, alcoholic drinks and mocktails for you to work your way through trying.

My word to the wise would be to get there early to order and enjoy your food before the quiz night starts because we ordered not long after arriving and our meal didn't come until just before the third round started. Next time I'd order little small plates and nibbles for during the quiz and save a proper meal for either before or afterwards because during the quiz it's all who gets the correct answer fastest so you don't want your food to go cold whilst you're busy being competitive.

From Steph & Kirstie (my token vegans)
Amazing cocktails and especially love that they use local coffee in their espresso martinis. Several vegan options for small plates: the cauliflower dish was beautifully seasoned and the meatballs were spicy whilst still being flavourful (it wasn't just HEAT). The vegan burger was great and was served with delicious rustic chips. The venue was really gorgeous and cosy, loved all the hanging planters and the industrial look of the exposed copper pipes wrapped in ivy. Lighting was soft, there was plenty of comfy seating and plenty of spaces between tables so if you have sensory issues, this is a great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat without being overwhelmed by bright lights and too much noise.

The staff were really friendly and attentive. The quiz was a great format, having it via the phone app where you pick the first letter of the answer means that it's also dyslexia friendly as there's no stumbling over spellings. Tempest also get bonus points with it being dog friendly too.
