Event | New Menu Launch At Stoke Liverpool

It's been a little while since I visited Stoke Liverpool but recently the lovely head Chef Christina recently invited me in to try out their new menu in small bites to celebrate that you can now rent out Stoke Liverpool for any occasions you may have which is great because you may know that I've quickly become a fan of the food Stoke Liverpool offer.

We were welcomed in with a selection of non-alcoholic and alcohol drinks then given the chance to find a seat in the range of tables and booths. When we arrived they had a couple of the taller tables in the very middle which is perfect for people that prefer to stand up with their drinks whilst chatting with friends, colleagues or family. I really liked the open part in the middle of the restaurant as it gave a better flow when the small plates of food were coming out. We were started off with warm pitta bread, hummus and coleslaw as we enjoyed our welcome drinks. I don't know how they made the hummus but it was absolutely delicious with the warm pitta bread.

The small plates was such a great idea as they came in a range of savoury dishes to begin with then we had a break with live music before they brought out the dessert small plates. When they brought out the small plates, they had a range of different dishes including spinach pies, curried chicken skewers, roasted aubergine, cod, crispy prawns, grilled swordfish, chicken/beef burgers and flat iron steak. Now I'm not a huge fan of fish but I was really impressed with the crispy prawns because they really did taste good and not overly fishy (fussy eaters will know what I mean!). I did branch out and try the swordfish which would have been fine on it's own but the sauce that it came with was just a bit too tart for me so I mainly stuck to the chicken skewers, hummus and pitta bread and the burgers.

I was really surprised that considering these were only small plates, they were very filling and by the end of trying the desserts, I was ready to roll home for a nap. I like that there was a range of dishes. I do feel like if you were veggie or vegan you might struggle with food options but I imagine this is something you could discuss with Stoke Liverpool if you were to rent it out for an occasion.

Whilst the desserts were being prepared for everyone, we had the chance to have a break whilst listening to the amazing live music. For this day, they had a live saxophone player who was absolutely amazing and it was such a great chance. I feel like a lot of live performers at these types of events tend to be guitar or piano players so it was a really nice change.

As you can see the desserts looked absolutely incredible and doing them in very small bite-size pieces made it perfect for trying a couple of desserts without getting too full. They came out with four different desserts so you could get a little taste of what Stoke Liverpool offer and believe me you'll be happy with them all.

On the night we had a bit of something for everyone including a chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding, lemon meringue and a berry cheesecake. I am a big chocolate lover so you know that the chocolate. brownie one was the one I devoured first and it was incredible as the brownie I had after my Sunday roast. Now I'm not a huge fan of lemon desserts but I was surprised at how much I liked this one but there was no lady-like way to eat this due to the amount of meringue on the top but the sweetest of the meringue went perfectly with the tart lemon. Not going to lie, the sticky toffee pudding is never my favourite dessert but I was surprised how much I liked this deconstructed version but it was swimming in a pool of caramel which was delicious but did make it rather difficult to eat without spilling half of the caramel down my chin.

Some of little tasters of dishes did come out on little dishes however some did not so it would be helpful to make sure you get some small side plates to put your tasters on as they're coming out. As always the staff at Stoke Liverpool are absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to ensure that everything you needed was catered too.
