I feel like Bongo's Bingo is an iconic part of Liverpool and something that everyone must experience whether you are a Liverpool native or just visiting. It also makes a great event whether you're there to have fun with your friends, you want to do a group afternoon or night out for work nights out, hen do's, birthday's or to celebrate anything in your life. I recently got the chance to head along with a group of my friends to experience it for ourselves as we were all Bongo's Bingo's newbies.
Bongo's Bingo is iconic and if you speak to others, they will at the very least know the name if they've not visited it themselves. Now for those of you that don't know Bongo's Bingo is not your typical bingo experience, it is a mix of bingo, dance-off's, rave intervals, audience participation, and the chance to escape the afternoon/evening. There are over 50 locations around the world and we're lucky to have one in Liverpool in Content. You get the chance to win prizes from money and Disney dolls to a mirrorball helmet and mobility scooter, there really is an array of prizes. Whilst we were there, they also had Parkgate fish and chips where you could buy from their limited menu and I did pick up the salt and pepper chicken nuggets and chips as well as a plain chips for my friends that are vegan and I can confirm that the food was absolutely delicious and I need to go back and try it in the actual Parkgate fish and chips in Parkgate.
We were all Bongo's Bingo newbies so we didn't really know what to expect other than what we'd peaked at on social media. When you arrive, you're told the rules of Bongo's like not dancing on the tables. Otherwise you're given your bingo book and pen and either shown to your reserved seat or if you haven't booked a table, you can take a seat wherever you can find one. We were very lucky that we got a front row table. We got there with plenty of time to get some food and have a drink before the action actually started. I will say that the two dancers and the DJ were incredible and made it such a fun afternoon. We ended up going for the afternoon bingo which was perfect cause it didn't finish too late so if you're a tired girly like myself and don't like being out late it was perfect for me but you can also go for the evening shows which finish later.
We were there for a couple of hours and it was a combination of songs, bingo and having people from the audience coming up on stage. We even got a few surprise performances of people singing for us all. On the night they had a range of prizes from the disco ball helmet and Disney princess's all the way to increasing cash prizes as we played through the different games. Now we were very lucky and won the disco ball helmet which everyone was very jealous and a million and one people came along asking to taking pictures in it and buy it off them. We were also very lucky and won the last two full houses which gave us cash prizes so our little team did very well.
I honestly had such a fun afternoon there, it was something I wouldn't have normally agreed to but I feel like the Motown special was less crazy music so which it was fun to enjoy, it didn't feel too draining and we actually all laughed, sang music and enjoyed it which for 4 people who prefer calmer, more relaxed activities is a big compliment. It's definitely something that I would go back and do again either with friends or for an event like a work night out, birthday or hen do. At the minute, they're doing some country specials so keep your eyes peeled on their website for the different specials as well as being able to buy tickets.
