It's time for another foodie post and this time it's about the launch night of the wonderful Fuzzy Duck which is a bar that is located underneath Liu Shi at 60 Hope Street. I was kindly invited along to the launch night and of course I had to take my best friend along to check out the vegan options they have available and I was so surprised with how great the food was so I thought it was about time to share with you all.
Fuzzy Duck is located underneath the Liu Shi restaurant which is a short walk away from the Liverpool Philharmonic so it's perfect for a pre-show dinner or as a spot for celebration if you have graduation coming up. It has a relaxed vibe and offers a function room for any occasions, they offer more of a bar menu compared to the Liu Shi menu. I love that Fuzzy Duck is dog friendly and offer a range of brunch, lunch, pre-theatre specials, dinner, drinks, cocktails and snacks. They offer modern Asian inspired food which ranges from the familiar recipes to some British classics with an Asian twist.
Inside the Fuzzy Duck, it's such a cool relaxed vibe with dim lighting and interesting art work lining the walls. We were welcomed in by the wonderful staff and shown to our table and offered a drink. As I'm not drinking, I went for a mocktail which was absolutely incredible and ended up getting several other people interested in the mocktails and Steph got the pleasure of Fuzzy Duck's versions of a bucks fizz, the Ducks Fizz. We enjoyed our drinks and they kindly brought his over poppadoms and apple chutney whilst we looked over the menu and decided what we wanted for our starters and mains.
The menu includes a range of bar bites and starters for you to choose from, I would highly recommend the poppadoms with apple chutney and paneer fries. I am very proud of myself because I actually learnt to use chopsticks whilst we were there eating our starters. Steph went for the Yaki gyozas for the vegan starters and they were surprisingly good at using the chopsticks compared to me! Their mains sections have seven different choices for you to pick from including a couple of vegan options. We both went for the katsu curry and I went for the chicken version and Steph went for the sweet potato version. I'm not usually a curry person so I was really surprised at how much I liked it. We also had some prawn crackers which were the perfect addition to the meal. We did also get some salt and pepper chips which were delicious but did blow my mouth off as I'm not very good with spice.
Fuzzy Duck also offer bottomless brunch, Sunday roast, as well as vegan and non-vegan banquets which is a great option if you're new to Fuzzy Duck or having an event. I was so impressed with the food and mocktails, I'll definitely be heading back to try them again soon. On the launch night, they had live music which was a great addition and added to that bar feel. I well and truly rolled out of there, I was that full and I can't wait to head back and try out more of the menu.
