Diary of a Spoonie: Flare Ups & Feeling Low

Danielle Levy, Spoonie blogger, Fibromyalgia, lifestyle blogger, Liverpool blogger, Wirral blogger,

Honestly this has probably been the hardest blog post I've tried to write. Living with a chronic illness or chronic pain two days are never the same, things are constantly changing and that can really hit you physically and mentally. I've really struggled with the mind over body fight this month.

Over the past month, it's like life has just said 'Here have it all!' and everything seems to have just hit me all at once and I always think how important it is not to bottle things up (my bestie Steph will be very happy to hear that I'm learning not to bottle things up anymore). September is my favourite time of year because it's the beginning of my favourite season...autumn. Unfortunately these past couple of weeks, I've been hit with a fibromyalgia flare up, severe tendonitis in my shoulder and the worst fatigue and anxiety I think I've ever suffered with.

I genuinely think this all started with the bicep tendonitis in my left shoulder, it randomly came on one day when I lifted up my Macbook (yes a light laptop caused me to injure myself, isn't it fun having a fluffed up body). I've been having physio since I injured it back at the beginning of September and unfortunately it's not massively better. After almost 3 weeks, I've not got constant pain all day and night anymore but I am still struggling to carry anything heavy than a mug of tea or to reach up or across for something without severe pain. Since injuring my shoulder my sleep and anxiety have honestly been all over the map, at the beginning I was falling asleep super early and lately I've been unable to sleep until like 3-4am which has be great for my energy levels. I've also found that the pain feels like it reappears as soon as I get into bed and it's a constant ache with painful pins and needles all the way down into my hand. Not exactly what you want when you're trying to get a restful sleep.

I am currently signed off till the end of September as I'm not allowed to reach up with or without any weight, rolling patients was straight away a no-go, and most frustratingly I can't drive at the moment because it's too painful to drive for more than a few minutes. I am due to go back to my Dr's this week for a review for injections into my shoulder and to possibly go get a scan too. I'm hopefully that things are going to improve this week and I can get back into a better routine for my day compared to my days being ruled by pain and fatigue.

What are you looking forward to this week?

Speak to you next time!
