Christmas is the well known time of year that we all treat ourselves but since joining Slimming World this Christmas has been a bit different and whilst I want to treat myself I've been learning the process of giving myself little treats that help motivate me to stay on plan whilst not going overboard. Now my treats aren't always sweet, I am a huge fan of savoury ones as well which is perfect for this time of year and I've become a huge fan of transforming my favourite naughty recipes into Slimming World friendly versions.
This December I've been a huge fan of adding in herbs into my meals in different ways to give my food some flavour, that's syn-free and doesn't add a bunch of calories. I feel like growing up there was always bottles of Schwartz herbs and spices in our cupboard and when I learnt to cook when I was younger, they really helped me to get creative in the kitchen and with my recipes.
Now it wouldn't be days before Christmas without talking about adding my favourite Schwartz herbs into my Christmas cooking and my favourite non-Christmas savoury treat that allow me to stay on plan without feeling like I'm missing out on one of my favourite times of the year! The Schwartz Mixed Herbs is my favourite of their herbs as it is my go-to one as you can literally add it to anything to give it a little bit more flavour and make it taste delicious without the flavours being too overwhelming.
My Slimming World Roast Potatoes
You will need:
- Potatoes
- Schwartz Mixed Herbs
- 0-calorie cooking spray
- Preheat your oven to 200 degrees (these are also a great one to do in an Actifryer).
- Peel and chop your desired amount of potatoes into quarters and place them into a bowl.
- I love using a garlic 0-calorie cooking spray but you can use a pretty plain sunflower or olive oil spray, you basically need something to help crisp the potatoes and help the herbs stick to them.
- Spray a fair amount of your favourite cooking spray onto the potatoes and turn them in the bowl to get them well coated.
- Now you can be as reserved or liberal with how much Mixed herbs you want to add in, I prefer to add a good sprinkle and a half into the bowl so that each potato has a good coverage of herbs.
- Pop them onto a baking sheet covered in baking paper and pop into the oven for 3o minutes, making sure to turn them halfway through.
