It's been a little while since I last visited Stoke Brasserie & Grill in the Radisson Red hotel so when the lovely head chef Christina got in touch about the new afternoon tea they were offering, I jumped over myself to head along with my best friend for a little catch up over afternoon tea. I thought I would share it with you all cause this has been one of my favourite afternoon tea's in a very long time!
Stoke Brasserie & Grill is located in the beautiful Radisson Red Liverpool which is a stunning Grade-II listed building situated right next door to Lime Street train station making it a perfect stop whether you need somewhere in town to stay overnight or you fancy somewhere for a spot for food before exploring or visiting the theatre. Stoke is beautifully decorated with a range of artwork that sticks true to the Liverpool location with a lovely open kitchen so you can see them working their magic on your dishes. They offer an Al La Carte, Small Plates, Lunch, Pre-Theatre, Afternoon Tea, & Sunday Roast menus so there is a range of options to pick from as well as a great cocktail & wine list.
I headed to Stoke Brasserie & Grill with my bestie for a much needed catch up whilst trying out the new afternoon tea menu. The afternoon tea is on offer from Monday - Saturday, 1pm - 4pm. You have several option in terms of drinks with your afternoon tea, you can have the standard afternoon tea with the wonderful New Forest tea or coffee for £30, afternoon tea with prosecco for £35, afternoon tea with champagne for £40 & bottomless afternoon tea with bottomless prosecco & selected cocktails for 1.5 hours for £55.
We arrived and were welcomed in by the wonderful staff at Stoke who talked us through the afternoon tea & showed us the tea options from the New Forest Tea company which I need to find this tea company and order some more cause the teas were wonderful. As you can see from the wooden chest in the pictures, they were is plenty of choices in terms of tea flavours that are all loose-leaf and come in a personal tea pot for yourself to enjoy with your afternoon tea. I ended up going for the Vanilla One which was a vanilla flavoured Rooibos tea and Fliss went for the standard black tea.
The afternoon is traditional with a mix of savoury and sweet choices but they've then got more unique with the choices they've gone for. Instead of your bog-standard sandwiches, they had a butter croissant with ham, cheese and béchamel, rosemary focaccia with harissa, roasted peppers, & sun-dried tomato hummus, as well as coronation chicken and salmon creme fraiche petite sandwiches. Now I'm not normally a huge lovely of ham and you could have served me a plate of the mini butter croissants and I would have devoured them, they were delicious. I really liked that they had more unique savoury options cause I feel like a lot of afternoon teas have the same sandwiches flavours which ends up feeling a little boring.
Of course the best part of the afternoon tea is the sweets and Stoke definitely didn't hold back on these. Now they did have the traditional scones with clotted cream and jam but added a side of fresh fruit which was a really lovely addition. To change it up, they had a berry cheesecake, chocolate & salted caramel torte, a vanilla creme brûlée, as well as a white chocolate & passionfruit lolly. All of the sweet options were so good and we split them between us so we could both try them.
I love that when we went for afternoon tea, we didn't feel rushed throughout the entire visit. The staff seriously had service down which was perfect cause we were given water and time to settle into our table before they came to get our tea choices whilst the afternoon tea was being finished off and put together for us to enjoy. We had such a lovely experience whether you have an event coming up with friends, family and loved ones or you just fancy a little afternoon catch up with something a little bit fancier.
