Looking Forward Into 2025 & My Promises To Myself

I can't believe it's 2025 already and I'm thinking about how the last year has gone and what is coming up in 2025, I've decided that this year I'm going to focus more on looking after number one instead of running around to make everyone else happy (can you tell I'm a recovering people pleaser), I don't want to set New Years resolutions because thanks to chronic illnesses I don't want to put too much pressure to do X in a week or a day but I want to make promises to myself on some things I'm going to work on this year for myself.

This year I'm looking after myself and going to be focusing on giving myself grace & injecting more joy into my life. For my planner this year, I opted for the 2025 Pretty Perfect Diary which had me fill out a Wheel of Life with a self assessment of different sections of my life which showed me some areas I could work on during 2025 & some of these actually helped me to great these promises. I really like that my new diary gives me quarterly goals which I'm going to be using to update my promises to myself as the year progresses.

My first promise was around my health. I didn't want this to be the basic promise like move more and eat a healthy diet like you might see in many resolutions. I want to work more on my sleep which is something I started working on at the end of 2024 as I've started working with an OT on my sleep and we're also going to be working on pacing myself. Something I really like from the Pretty Perfect Products is that they focus on having a consistent morning and evening routine which is something that I've really wanted to start implementing again so I can get back in a better routine for my health. I am also working this year on pacing myself as I struggle so much with overfilling my plate and then pushing myself into a flare up cause it's like mentally I don't feel like my body is about 10 years older than it is!

I kept looking at my books over the festive period and realised that I didn't make enough time to read so as part of bringing joy back into my life. I've already joined a little book club through one of my Bomb Party reps so I'm promising to myself that during these next couple of months, I'll read at least 2 books. I still need to pick these out but I'd like for it to be at least one fiction book and one more self-improvement style book so I'm planning to pick these books out this weekend so I can have them out in eye-line and not just tucked away on my bookcase.

This year I've taken another reduction in my hours and wages due to my health and will now be working Monday-Wednesday so I want to have more structure to my four days off. I want to have a definite rot day, a work day for blogging and social media and then actually still have time for my weekend and whatever I want to do. One thing I'm implementing is having a weekly to-do list instead of daily to-do lists so that my days off can be flexible on when I do things depending on how my health is that day which again is another thing to try and help with pacing myself and putting less pressure on myself which again ties into the putting myself number one.

My last promise for this quarter is that I want to do more self care whether that is a bubble bath or an everything shower, doing a face mask or using eye patches more regularly, saying no to more things if my plate is too full or even just getting an earlier night or allowing myself a lie in without an alarm. I also used to do my self care as a way to reward myself for getting everything done but I want to stop that because it shouldn't be a reward to complete acts of self care but something that you should do to refill your own cup.

What are your words for 2025?
