I haven't been to Tempest on Tithebarn in so long so you know when they sent me along an invite mentioning one that the rooftop bar had reopened for the summer but also to come along and try their delicious burger menu, you know I had to head along and bring my bestie to try out the alcoholic cocktails (yes I'm still teetotal) and enjoy the meals as a non-picky eater. The invite also happened to come along just before her wedding s0 it was the perfect chance for us to catch up and do something non-wedding to help reduce the pre-wedding anxiety.
Every summer Tempest on Tithebarn open their rooftop bar which gives you the chance to see the bee boxes but also to get reviews of Liverpool whilst you enjoy a drink and catch up with friends or loved ones. Now there is a lift up to the rooftop bar, however you do then need to go up some stairs which is something to be mindful of for accessibility and mobility issues. Once we eventually got up there, we had a good look around and it was time to decide on which drinks to go for whilst we enjoyed the view. It is a smaller bar on the rooftop bar so there is limited availability to the different cocktails they have on offer but they still have a good 4-5 options there. Not going to lie, I cannot for the life of me remember what we got but they were both some variation of a spritz that were delicious. It was also so cute cause they've got little blankets so when it gets a little chilly you can snuggle up with a blanket and your drinks.
Once we'd enjoyed our cocktails, it was time to head downstairs and try out some of the food menu from Tempest. Let me tell you there is far too much choice on the menu, it was so hard to pick out the burgers never mind pick out the sides to go with it. We ended up going for the halloumi fries and the salt and pepper chicken bites and my word they were absolutely delicious. I like that they came out fresh and hot from the kitchen. I will admit that it does Tempest does have a little bit of waiting time when it comes to ordering food but all their food is made fresh to order but it does give you more time to relax, chat and enjoy your cocktails whilst you wait.
Tempest now offer 10 different burgers that you can choose from, each have the option of different fries on the side, 4 different sauces, as well as 7 different options that you can also add onto the burger. It was so incredibly hard to choose what burger to go for. After much discussion between each other and the waitress, we ended up going for the salt and pepper chicken burger and the Scouse burger because when we're going out for food, we usually like to get different dishes so that we can try as much of the burgers as possible.
It's been quite a while since I last went to Tempest on Tithebarn for food so I was really excited for it. As a fussy eater, I tried to push myself out of my comfort zone by going for the salt and pepper chicken burger which came with a fried buttermilk chicken patty, salt and pepper seasoning and spicy mayo, I then did opt to have extra cheese on it because well cheese if life! It came with yummy fries and some blue cheese sauce on the side (again I have never tried blue cheese sauce, yes I am a child). Fliss went for the Scouse burger which is honestly the most unique idea as it is beef brisket, potato and vegetable hash patty, red cabbage and dipping gravy on the side. I really like that they have the Scouse burger on the menu, it's such a unique idea and perfect for a Liverpool based restaurant.
Now these burgers turned up and I was surprised at how thick they are, even with an unhinged jaw it was had to fit it all in my mouth to get a bite. I was really impressed with the balance of flavours in my burger and Fliss loved her burger and the gravy on the side was perfect. In all honesty, I'd love the option to get gravy on the side of any of the burgers! I'm teetotal for health reasons so Fliss had an espresso martini then we tested out the mocktail menu which I've tried several times before from Tempest and I can confirm that the tropical lemonade and razzmatazz mocktails are some of my top favourites. Both burgers were £14.50 each including the fries and sauces on the side and the mocktails were £5-6 each so they really aren't too bad overall prices for a burger and mocktails.
