It's officially the beginning of November so it's time to start focusing on all things Christmas & I'm back with the Leaf Christmas menu launch. Recently I got the chance to head along to Leaf with my bestie Steph on Bold Street to get in the Christmas spirit and try out their new Christmas menu and share it all with you.
If you haven't been yet, Leaf have got several locations on the Wirral and in Liverpool for you to visit and as well as all their amazing drinks and menu. They recently launched their Christmas menu for £26.95 per person which features sharing platters for your starter and desserts and then a choice of six different main courses including meat, fish, veggie and vegan options. Steph came along with me which is great because it gives you a view on the vegan options on the menu.
On the night, we were welcomed in with a custom festive cocktail and were directed to our seats whilst they had someone playing Christmas music on their guitar. After we had chance to enjoy our cocktail and chat, they brought out the starter sharing platter which you actually get two choices and ours was the festive platter which was filled with maple glazed pigs in blankets, apple and sage arancini, mini goats cheese and mulled cranberry eccles cake, duck and chicken leg rillette, truffle hummus, and focaccia crostini's. They also have the option of a Greek meze platter which has hummus, tzatziki, olives, falafel, chick pea and feta parcels, greek salad, and toasted breads. I was so surprised to see the arancini in the starters and it was absolutely delicious and I'd go back again just for this. Because I have a small stomach, I ended up just picking at the starters because I wanted to save as much space for the main cause it sounded amazing.
Steph was blown away because it was sharing platters for the starters and desserts, they told me they were totally happy to just have a main to make things easier with it being sharing platters. But Leaf brought them out individualised starters and dessert that were completely vegan which was really nice of them. For our mains, I decided to go for the braised beef feather blade which oh my word, it absolutely fell apart as soon as you put your fork into it, it was cooked perfectly and just tasted amazing. I'll definitely be heading back for this main cause as someone who's usually a chicken or turkey person, this really did blow me away with how much I liked it. Steph went for the kale & sweet potato pie which they said was good. You then got sharing dishes of roasted potatoes and veggies to help yourself to as many as you fancy which is great cause then you can pick and choose what you prefer of each instead of it coming out with a set amount on your plate.
To finish off the meal, they had sharing platters of desserts that included mini treacle tarts, mince pie truffles, and peanut butter fudge. They even had a vegan fruit crumble with ice cream for Steph. By this point in the meal I was completely stuffed so I nibbled on one of each in the sharing platter but couldn't finish them all. I found the fudge and treacle tarts to be very sweet for me, I seem to have a fluctuating sweet tooth so sometimes I love anything sweet and other times it's too much for me. I will definitely be heading back for that braised beef feather blade main cause it was so delicious!
