Diary of a Spoonie: Where I've Been

Danielle Levy, spoonie blogger, chronic illness, spoonie, liverpool blogger, lifestyle blogger, wirral blogger,

Since the end of December, my health has well and truly kicked my butt which has lead to an unscheduled break and unfortunately I can't take any more periods of sickness till October (yes the NHS sickness policy sucks and sucks even more for people with chronic health conditions) so I have had to put my blog and social media temporarily on hold because it was literally taking all my daily spoons (and a lot of caffeine) to function at work for 13hrs then spending my days off resting and recovering to be able to function when I'm on shift.

During January and February it felt like all my body did was attack itself and I most definitely lost that battle. Between having to attend a potential dismissal meeting with my HR at work, to having a horrible flare up, my shoulder injury starting to turn out worse than originally expected and my ankles/hands giving the ghost, it was a really tough couple of months. I'm so thankful for the people that read my little corner of the internet as well as brands I work with and my nursing colleagues. The people I work with in the hospital have been so understanding, have checked in on how I'm doing and honestly have helped me out so much over the past couple of months. They're honestly the greatest team I'd ever want to work for. I'm so thankful to the brands that have been so incredibly understanding when I've had to press pause on my social media work and I'm slowly finding my way back into. I have so many pieces that are pre-shot or half filmed, I'm so eager to get back to finishing and scheduling content but I'm still trying to find that balance whilst I'm recovering.

I've spent more time at hospital and Dr appointments in the past couple of months than I have done in the whole of 2021 which has just been mind boggling for me and even after all these appointments we haven't gotten very far in terms of answers. Between my asthma deciding that it wanted to be out of control for 3 months and my body attacking my joints/liver/thyroid, it's easy to see how exhausted I've been and how much I've been struggling. Most annoyingly the painful joints has really affected me working out which is equally as annoying. I had finally gotten into a routine and was getting stronger before all this, luckily I work with an incredible PT Suraj who couldn't be more supportive and is helping me stay active without hindering my recovery.

Over the past couple of months, I have been dying to get back to blogging and have sat down at my laptop so many times but my brain has just not co-operated. I have fully experienced brain fog but I have had straight up memory problems meaning I've spent so much time trying to write but I just can't find the words I want to say which has lead to so much frustration. I'm slowly getting back to writing and having a no pressure approach, I have a list of posts that I want to write and social media content that I want to create so I will slowly be getting back to my regularly scheduled content. Please just be patient with me, I am determined to be back up and running as soon as I possibly can.

What's something you're looking forward in this month?
