Review | Protect Your Skin This Summer with Dermalogica

It's getting to that time of year when everyone suddenly remembers about wearing SPF because it's suddenly scorching weather but did you know that you're actually supposed to wear it all year round. I thought I'd share some of my recent SPF favourites from Dermalogica.

Why SPF Year-Round Is Important
We all know that you need to wear SPF when you go holiday somewhere hot but how many of you knew that you're supposed to use it everyday?! Your skin is responsible for protecting us from harmful UV rays that's why we need to give our skin a helping hand by using SPF even on cloudy days or the days when you may spend the majority of the time inside, you're still at risk of skin cancer, discolourations/sun spots, and increased amount of wrinkles.

Clearing Defence SPF 30
The Clearing Defence SPF 30 is part of the Dermalogica Clear Start range and is actually a moisturiser as well as your SPF. It's designed to help protect breakout-prone skin without clogging your pores, it has a lightweight matte finish. It's filled with natural tapioca, willow bark extract, green tea extract, and vitamin C which help to combat the irritating effects of pollution whilst the broad spectrum SPF helps to protect your skin against UV rays to prevent an uneven skin tone.

I've been using the Clearing Defence SPF 30 more as an SPF rather than a moisturiser because I have pretty dry skin and I find it works perfectly for me. I love how lightweight it is even with my usual skincare routine, during this heat wave especially I've noticed that I don't feel like I've got a layer of products on my skin and it can actually breathe.

Protection 50 Sport SPF
Secondly I have the Protection 50 Sport SPF that is designed to be an all over SPF for your face and body that is water resistant for up to 80 minutes. It helps protect your skin from prolonged skin damage from UV lights and also helps to bind moisture to your skin to prevent moisture loss from being out in the sun all day without leaving you feeling all greasy.

I walk the dog a lot (not in this horrible heatwave) and no matter what time of year it is, I've been using this more and more as my body SPF cause it literally melts into my skin with 30 seconds and leaves a satin feel straight away so there's really no excuse for not wearing your SPF everyday. I love that it's just got a fresh scent to it instead of the usual typical SPF scent and I find that the scent isn't overwhelming and once rubbed in you can only smell it if you put your arm right under your nose so it won't compete with your perfume.

Even when I'm stuck in my dungeon of an ITU unit (there's literally no windows in it so I only get to see outside on my breaks) and I still use this SPF on my arms, chest and neck. Basically any part of my skin that you can see outside my scrubs. Now you're probably thinking if I'm inside all day what is the point of using SPF but it's because UV rays can actually come in through your windows so even when I'm on break or driving to and from work I need protection cause you can get sun damage quicker than you think you can.

Be honest do you use SPF everyday?

Speak to you next time!
