Il Forno brings a taste of Italy to Liverpool with head chef Paolo Cillo and his team combining generations of traditional Italian food with his amazing creative flair to create incredible menus. Located at the top of Duke Street, Il Forno is a beautiful place for dinner with friends or family, a birthday celebration, a Christmas party, or even just a lovely after-work dinner.

I'm a big fan of Italian food, in fact you could probably say it's one of my favourites cuisines so when an email lands in my inbox inviting me to an evening of incredible Italian food you know I was there! This month the new Christmas Party menu launched ready for everyone to get there Christmas celebrations booked in. I arrived with my lovely work friend Jules and the interior was decked out in full Christmas decorations including Christmas crackers on the table. Everything from the moment we walked in to the moment we left was so warm, friendly and inviting. Now onto the thing that I'm sure you are all here for....the food!

Instead of us picking one starter, mains and desserts, they brought out a selection of the starters, mains and desserts so we got a chance to see and try them all out. Whilst the Christmas Party menu is not as extensive as their standard menu there is an incredible selection with there being something for everyone. To start there is a choice of 6 starters, including smoked salmon and burrata, pate, scallops and even an olives and bread dipping platter.

The mains were some of my favourites and I was even introduced to a couple of things that I'd never tried before and have fallen in love with. There was a great selection of mains including veggie-friendly, meat dishes and even steak and pizza. My favourites were definitely the pasta dishes and from seeing the pizzas being made in the open pizza oven area, I have no doubt that they're also incredible, in fact I want to go back to try out the pizzas. From tasting the different mains, I actually found out that I actually really like lamb shank, something I never would have tried before if it wasn't for the event but it literally fell off the bone as you were cutting it off and it was so delicious.

Now we all know that I'm all about the desserts and Il Forno definitely didn't disappoint with their offerings for the Christmas Party menu! Of course, there is the choice of a cheese plate for those that aren't massively into sweets or love a good cheese plate around Christmas time. But they also have an amazing warm apple strudel and the table winning chocolate bomb which has warm chocolate sauce poured over the top at the table. The chocolate bomb was definitely the big winner with everyone at the tasting event, cheering and filming the whole thing!

Even as a super fussy eater, there was quite the selections of starters, mains and desserts that I'd clean the plate of. The portion sizes were just right for a three-course meal, we all left completely full (I mean we did share several starters, mains and desserts between a couple of people) and very much in the Christmas spirit. Il Forno is a brilliant place for a Christmas celebration and it's perfectly placed to have dinner then head into town for a couple of drinks. You can book your Christmas celebrations now for £25 for 2 courses and £29 for 3 courses.

Are you a fan of Il Forno?

Speak to you next time!
