New Year, New Goals

2018 has flown by so fast and I feel like the past month I took a bit of a step back from my blog and enjoyed December, enjoyed spending time with my family and enjoyed vlogmas. Every year I make resolutions with the hope of fulfilling them, however this year I'm making goals for myself instead so there is less pressure and more focus on me and my happiness.


Looking After Myself & My Mental Health
Over the past year, I've come to realise that I spend a large amount of time caring for people at some of the scariest points in their life but I don't take much time to look after myself and my mental health. This year I want to take more time out of my week to focus on me and actually do things that make me happy and relaxed. My goal is depending on my work shifts to have 1-2 days off where I'm not in my hospital work or doing my blog/youtube work.

I think I made this my goal last year and I epically failed at it! This year I want to take the time every night to read instead of spending time on my phone or iPad, I am hoping that reading every night will help me feel more relaxed and will allow me to switch off more often! I have a list as long as my arm of books that I want to get through so I'm hoping that by the end of 2019 I can write a post about all my favourite books I read during the year.

Rid My Life of Toxic People
Unfortunately, in 2018 I learnt the hard way that there were some people in my life that we toxic to me and my mental health. At the end of 2018, I've started to clear my life of the relationships and people that gave me stress or anxiety and already I'm starting to feel the benefit. I've started to realise that I no longer need to feel obliged to be friends with someone just because they're in my group of friends or close friends with one of my close friends. No longer having these toxic relationships in my life really lifts a weight off your shoulders and I would highly recommend taking a look at the relationships in your life and if they cause you more stress and anxiety rather than fun and laughter, are they truly worth it? 

Go To Bed Earlier & Wake up Earlier
I used to have such a good sleeping routine (not going to lie I feel a bit like we're talking about a child) where I could get up early and go to bed at a better time however I feel like for the past year I've struggled to go to bed at a earlier time and get up earlier, I wouldn't say I'm a night owl for work but I can stay up till the early hours watching Netflix or Now TV (I know, I know!) but I am super productive and can get so much work done when I get up earlier in the morning. I want to change that this year and get up earlier and more productive of a morning and go to sleep earlier so I can have a better nights sleep.

Get Into More of a Routine
At the moment I feel like I plan out my week but I don't accomplish half of what I want to get done and I used to be able to get so much more of my to-do list done. This year I've treated myself to a brand new planner to encourage me to be more productive and be able to organise my time better and not to overwhelm myself with too many things in one day. I also hope that with my new planner I can get my week into more of a routine and actually get a couple of days off in the week instead of spending all my time at either the hospital or blogging!
