Now I am a big scaredy cat when it comes to all things spooky and horror movies so I was very nervous when I got the invite for the Newsham Scream Park as I totally did not know what to expect as the website looks incredibly scary. I of course brought my friend Fliss who has done scare mazes before and she brought along her fiancee.

Newsham Park Hospital
If you aren't local to Liverpool, you might not know about Newsham Park Hospital. It is a grade 2 listed building that was previously been a hospital and an orphanage throughout it's years. Newsham Park was opened as the Seaman's Orphan Institution in 1870 then it was transformed into the hospital in 1954 and it also developed a psychiatry department and filled up 90% of it's premises by 1992 when they had took over the care of the patients from the Rainhill Lunatic Asylum that closed and by 1997 it was closed down and sold to developers. It is supposed to be infamous as a location for ghost hunts because of all the paranormal activity.
Newsham Scream Park
This Halloween, the folks at Asylum Entertainment LTD decided to create an immersion scarefest with 3 different experiences (only two if you're under 18 though!) at one of the UK's most haunted and scary buildings. You can book tickets on their website and it's running from now until the 5th November so there's plenty of time to get down there.
As you go in there is the courtyard where there is a bar to get drinks and several places to pick food up from with plenty of seating as well as a livestream of the different routes so you can see other people getting scared. We got in 30 minutes before the 3 scare rooms opened which gave us plenty of time to get a drink and some food. The bar has your standard drinks as well as some Halloween themed cocktails. I won't lie the food stalls do have some great food option including a fully vegan stand but the execution of food stand could have been done a lot better. Once you'd ordered, you get given one of those square alarm thing that alerts you when your food is ready or when they ran out you get given a number that they shout out. However even on the vegan food stand that was nowhere near as busy as the other stands, we found the stands had failed to buzz two out of the three of our food orders and whilst I was waiting to order, there were so many people that had to keep coming up as their order hadn't beeped. We eventually went up and got our food and managed to eat whilst we watched other people attempting the scare rooms first before we decided to attempt it ourselves.
We ended up doing the sanitarium and the orphanage scare rooms. You could go in both these rooms in groups of 8/9 people and they waited for 60 seconds before letting another group inside. The helluminati room is 2 people at a time so expect for that queue to be a lot longer than the other two. Obviously if things are busy prepare that you are going to a have a long wait compared to how long you're actually in there. Once inside the rooms there are a mixture of being in the dark and some being in the light and that's all I'll spoil for you. I am a completely scaredy cat so I took my best friend and her fiancee and yes I held her hand and grabbed her with every jump scare. Whilst I did get spooked throughout both rooms that we did, it was also filled with some laughs when things went awry.
