New In: Dermalogica

Danielle Levy, Dermalogica, Skinfluencer, skincare, lifestyle blogger, beauty blogger, Liverpool blogger, Wirral blogger,

How often do we truly look after our skin?! As much as I love skincare products, I for one am guilty of not taking care of my skin. Thankfully Dermalogica has come to my rescue and invited me to take part in their #Skinfluencer program and sent me along some of their favourites (and best sellers) to try. I thought it was only right to feature them in another New In blog post (I've come to realise it's all skincare products at the moment in these New In posts but I'm hoping to include other types of products soon).

Who Are They?
Dermalogica has been around since 1986 and was born from Jane Wurwand not finding a skincare line that focused on the health of your skin rather than just making it look pretty. The whole vision behind her products was that it was free of common skin irritants and ingredients that could cause breakouts but would help improve skin health and were only able to be used by qualified skin care professionals trained at The International Dermal Institute.

Nowadays their products are available for anyone wishing to improve their skin health and take care of their skin in over 100 countries. Their focus is more on taking care of your skin than how pretty their packaging is (even though their packaging is simple and classic). They are also striving to be more eco-friendly with their products being cruelty-free and recognised by PETA and the leaping bunny (they've actually only got a very small handful of products left to change before they're a completely vegan company), they've also committed to making 90% of their packaging either recyclable or biodegradable by next year.

My Thoughts
Dermalogica kindly sent me across five of their best selling, favourite products to try out which have almost formed a complete skincare routine. Even though the packaging is simple and classic, I really like the design and that some of the products have little added touches of colour on the packaging. I thought with the changing of the seasons upon us, I would test out this little routine they've sent me and report back in a couple of weeks with how I got on with the products, I might even do some individualised reviews if I completely fall in love with something.

There is nothing more satisfying than taking off your makeup at the end of a long day, I prefer using cream cleansers to take off my makeup as I have chronically dry skin so I often find that other types of cleansers can leave my skin feeling a bit stripped and even drier. I don't think I've ever tried an oil cleanser to take off my makeup so I'm really excited to put the Precleanse to the test. Precleanse is a deep-cleansing oil which melts makeup and impurities from your skin. It is recommended as their first step in a double cleanse routine, its a hydrophilic formula which turns into a milky emulsion when you add water. I love double cleansing to help get off all my makeup and thoroughly cleanse my skin so I'm excited to start testing this out, it also smells amazing, kind of like a sweet citrus scent.

On the note of cleansing, I've also got the Special Cleansing Gel as the second part of my cleansing routine. This soap-free, foaming cleanser helps to remove impurities without drying out or stripping the skin whilst feeling smooth and clean. I can see this going a long way as you only need a small amount and even using it morning and night it will last me a long time! Now any skincare addicts or skincare specialists will probably cringe but I am the worst for exfoliating my skin, it's just something that always seems to fall out of my routine. Normally any scrubs that I've used have been a creamy consistency so this powder Daily Microfoliant is a completely new thing to me. You would think that it'd be a bit of a faff with it being a powder exfoliator but you literally mix it up in your hand and pop it straight on so minimal mess. It's a rice-based powder with loads of skin-loving ingredients that help revive dull looking skin whilst being gentle enough to use every day.

Having chronically dehydrated skin, I love trying out different moisturisers and finding out which ones work best for my skin so I was instantly pulled in when I spotted a moisturiser in my package. The Skin Smoothing cream comes in a handy 50ml tube and contains active hydramesh technology which helps to hydrate and protect your skin. The unique active hydramesh technology is supposed to continually hydrate and protect your skin from environmental stresses for 48hrs. For me, it doesn't have much of a scent but from trying it on the back of my hand, it melts straight into my skin and left it feeling so soft! Lastly, I'm going to be trying out their SkinPerfect primer which you can use underneath makeup or on its own. The primer helps to smooth lines, brighten and prime your skin ready for makeup, it's slightly tinted when you squeeze it out the tube but it doesn't make you look like you're wearing makeup, it just blends into your skin. From using it on the back of my hand, it leaves a silky feel to my skin and it also smells really nice. I'm excited to put this to the test under my makeup and see how long it helps to prolong my makeup by.
