It's been a little while since I've visited my local YSL counter in Harvey Nics Beauty Bazaar so when the lovely Jess invited me in to check out the latest launches and have my makeup done by the incredible Fred Letailleur, I couldn't say no!

Fred Letailleur is YSL's National Face Designer and make-up artist who actually started out in the beauty industry as a specific FX makeup artist before he expanded into premium beauty. He has also worked on fashion, film, TV, theatre as well as working with YSL.

Because before all good makeup comes good skincare, we started off using the Or Rouge skincare range to hydrate and brighten my skin and give it a good base for my makeup to stick to. This range has been recently renovated to include a higher concentration of Saffron Flower pistils in such a light and refreshing formula, a little truly does go a long way with this cream! My skin felt so soft and cool after he'd popped it on, he explained how popular it's been relaunched and I totally get why now!

For my base, he used a combination of the remaining Or Rouge cream that was on his brush and mixed together the All Hours foundation stick with the Touche Eclat Shimmer Stick to give my skin a long-lasting base that still looked natural and glowing. To further accent the look, he used a darker foundation stick to shape my face and make me look like I'd actually caught some sun in this hot weather we've been having, he also used the shimmer stick on top of the foundation to further accent the high points on my face and give me some extra points of glow. Even though we were going for a more natural makeup look, I still had a couple of areas that I wanted a bit of extra coverage so Fred used the new Touche Eclat High Cover concealer to cover up my bags (thanks to 3hrs sleep after my night shift) and a couple of spots that had decided to sprout up for the event and thankfully I left looking like I'd had a full nights sleep!

For my eyes, we decided to play with the new Sequin Crush eyeshadows to add a pop of colour. Fred described these new launches as beautiful crushed glitter pigments and I think they're a gorgeous addition as they are absolutely stunning, I legit couldn't stop staring at the gold shade! Fred used the new eyeshadow as a little pop of glam and colour in the middle of my eye and he also used a pencil eyeliner (that was two shades in one!) as a base under the eyeshadow for some colour and definition to the look. Now I don't think I've ever mentioned it but my eyelashes seem to seriously misbehave (particularly my right eyelashes) whenever I try to put mascara on them, so much so that I've been looking at getting an LVL lash lift to try and train them into a better position but Fred used and told me about the Volume Effect Faux Cils Flash Primer before mascara which is a pale pink coloured mascara primer that helps to give your lashes instant curl, volumised and longer. I loved that not only is it a primer to help your lashes look thicker and longer and make your mascara last longer but it's also takes care of your lashes by nourishing and revitalising them.

To finish off the look, we tried out the new Vernis A Levres Water Stain lip colour which is brand new to YSL. This new lip colour is such a unique product to YSL as it's a super light non-sticky gloss that wears away to a beautiful stain that lasts all day. There are 14 gorgeous shades and as Jess on the counter told me, these sold out as soon as they came onto the counter and after trying them I can totally see why! As soon as Fred popped it on, it was really cooling and so hydrating (I was trying these out after several night shifts so my lips were completely dehydrated by the time I got there), I was really impressed with the stain that was left after the gloss had worn away. I am totally the type of person that will pop a lip colour on at the beginning of the day and then will totally forget to reapply it for the rest of the day so I love that these leave a stain behind so I still look like I'm wearing something on my lips!

I loved trying out some of the new launches from YSL and I actually loved the more natural, low coverage look Fred gave me. It's totally made me want to wear a lower coverage look more often! I also picked up a couple of the bits Fred tried out on me to do more of a review after I've used them for a longer period.
