We all know what a big Dermalogica fan I am so you know I just jumped at the chance to try out the Dermalogica ProSkin treatment at their treatment rooms in the new Flannels Liverpool store. When you first walk into Flannels, you're greeted with Dermalogica's lovely huge counter that you can explore all the products then on the top floor tucked away is there little treatment room where you can lie down and relax.

You can find all about the treatments that Dermalogica offer via their website, they do offer some online only services including face mapping, virtual consultations and clear start skin assessments but you can also get access to booking in for their in person professional skin services. Whether you need a little pick me up after a stressful week or want a more in-depth treatment, they've got you all catered and all their services are completely tailored to your skin needs. In their treatments, Dermalogica currently offer 8 different treatments in either 30 minute or 60 minute sessions.

I was booked in with the wonderful Alexia, who as soon as I walked up to the counter and mentioned I was here for a treatment, she knew my name and was ready to take me straight up to the treatment room. Before you actually enter the treatment room Alexia asked me all about my skin, any chronic health conditions or allergies, my stress levels, what my current skincare routine was like and if there was anything from Dermalogica that I already used. When you have a face mapping service to treatment, you have an account set up that stores all the information the skin therapists may ask so that they can make it easier and quicker for you to jump straight into your session and relax each time you come in.

I went for the ProSkin 30 minute treatment which is so much more than your average 30 or 60 minute facial. It's £50 for a 30 minute treatment or £90 for a 60 minute treatment. Dermalogica really go above and beyond even in this treatment, each treatment is completely customised to your skin concerns and how the skin therapist thinks your skin is looking on the day, they also include little wellness touches throughout the treatment to aid in relaxation and stress relief. Recently my skin seems to be getting irritated by the slightest thing and with wearing face masks so often in work and the changing of the season they seem to be the things that are irritating my skin the most. Thankfully Alexia knew just what treatment she wanted to do and what products to use to tackle this irritation and how I can continue to soothe it at home.

Even in my 30 minute treatment Alexia used the incredible oat mask (that they unfortunately don't sell commercially and you can only get at the in-person treatments) and whilst that face mask was sitting, she gave me such a relaxing scalp massage with the best smelling oils I've experienced (I very nearly fell asleep on her several times during this treatment). Something that was really interesting was that after applying my serum and moisturiser, Alexia used an ultrasonic blade to help my serum and moisturiser to penetrate deeper into my skin so I could get the best results from them (I'm extremely tempted to try and buy one to use at home!), it's such a weird sensation to explain but it was like little zaps pushing the product into my skin but it wasn't painful at all.

Throughout the treatment she did use quite a few of the products from the Ultracalming range and the Daily Milkfoliant to help tackle my irritation and any redness. The three products from the Ultracalming range that Alexia used is the Ultracalming Serum Concentrate, Ultracalming Mist and the Calm Water Gel. Before applying my face mask, Alexia used this Ultracalming Mist to help soothe any redness or irritation, calm redness, lock in hydration and prime the skin ready for any treatments.

Whats your favourite Dermalogica product?
