Transforming My Fine Hair | Mayraki First Impressions

Danielle Levy, Mayraki hair, fine hair, beauty blogger, Liverpool blogger, Wirral blogger,

Since my teens a big insecurity of mine is my hair and how it seems to be getting finer as I get older, I have tried pretty much everything possible with barely any success. So when the lovely people at Mayraki offered to send me some hair care to try and help me tackle my hair concerns, you know I jumped at the chance to try them out. I've only just started to test them out so I thought I could give you my first impressions now after trying each product a handful of times and then in a couple weeks, I'll come back with a more in-depth review with some comparison photos so you can see how my hair has physically improved from using the Mayraki products.

Switching To Bikini Waxing

Danielle Levy, Bikini Waxing, Lilspa, beauty blogger, Liverpool blogger, Wirral blogger,

Before Christmas I decided to make the switch to bikini waxing cause I absolutely hate the itchiness from regrowth that comes with shaving and I've also found that as my back pain has gotten worse it's gotten harder and taken me longer than normal to shave so I decided to make the switch. I thought I would share my experience with you all and some tips and tricks I used.

For my waxing, I went to the wonderful Suzanne from LilSpa and before I'd been to her, I've been weighed out waxing for like a whole month beforehand because I'd truly seen some horror stories and heard about people saying how painful it is and although I am a chronic pain warrior and can manage at a standard level of pain everyday, something like acute pain from a wax makes me so nervous. When I booked my appointment with the lovely Suzanne, I told her that this was my first bikini wax and she was able to reassure me of what it would be like and the process. So I decided to go for the Brazilian bikini wax which is a little strip of hair left, although Suzanne does also offer basic bikini and the Hollywood depending on what look you prefer.

I thought I would share some tips I picked up about those that might worry about switching to waxing:

  • If you're worried about pain, take an ibuprofen 20-30 minutes before your appointment.
  • Grow out your hair, you can't have really short hair and expect to be able to get a clean wax. If you've got nothing there, you can't wax it. Suzanne advised me to have around 1.5cms length to get the best result.
  • Don't work out immediately after your wax, you have no hair there to absorb the sweat and be a buffer for the friction so you will get irritation.
  • Wear something comfortable to your appointment, my skin was a little bit tender initially after the appointment so I went for my comfy underwear and joggers because I knew that they wouldn't put to much pressure on the area. By the time I drove home, it was completely fine, no tenderness or irritation.
  • Don't soak in a bath with fragranced products the day of, that again will irritate your skin.
I have pretty fine hair but I found that compared to shaving, the hair has grown back a lot softer and finer so I imagine that with more frequent sessions it would help the hair growth in that area and it's made me start thinking about waxing my legs and underarms now. I exfoliated the area that the night before so the skin wasn't too irritated the morning of and then left the exfoliation for a week or two afterwards so that I didn't irritate the skin. After having it done, I honestly think it actually hurts more having my eyebrows waxed! Now I don't know average prices for bikini waxes by me but Suzanne offers the Brazilian service for only £2o which I thought seemed like a great price.

Are you a fan of bikini waxing?

Speak to you next time!

My Acupuncture Experience

Danielle Levy, health, chronic illness, nurse blogger, Wirral blogger, Liverpool blogger,

Since I injured my back years ago, some of the treatments I've tried for my pain is acupuncture, seeing a chiropractor and having sports massages. Unfortunately these treatments do become very pricey, very fast when they're private. At the end of last year I mentioned that I was offered acupuncture sessions by my physiotherapists and quite a few people were interested in me talking about my experience so here we are!

Shopping Small | Boho Vegan Cosmetics

Danielle Levy, Boho Vegan Cosmetics, beauty blogger, Liverpool blogger, Wirral blogger,

Late last year whilst in the middle of my nightly Instagram scroll, I found the Boho Vegan Cosmetics Instagram page and fell in love with the bright swirls of body butter and body wash that just looked so cute. I ended up suggesting it to my family as a Christmas/Birthday gift idea (I'm hard to buy gifts for cause I usually just buy anything I want or need) and they kindly bought me a couple of scents that I had my eye on so for the past couple of weeks I've been testing them out and thought I would share this small business with you all.

Keeping My Puppy Fit & Active | PitPat Review

Danielle Levy, PitPat, lifestyle blogger, Wirral blogger, Liverpool blogger,

I've been using a fitness tracker for years now to not only encourage myself to stay fit and active but also to motivate myself to move more by making it a competition with my friends and family. Even though Rosie is part Collie which is usually a very active brand, she is also part King Charles Cavalier which can have a tendency to become overweight as they grow up which can put excess stress not only on their joints but also on their hearts (if you didn't know Cavalier's can also be at risk of heart problems) so not long after I got Rosie, I spotted the PitPat monitors in an Instagram advert and decided to pick one up to give it a go.

Styling Shirts For A Bigger Bust | Salamander Shirts

Danielle Levy, Salamander Shirts, Tutti Rouge Lingerie, fashion blogger, mid-size fashion, lifestyle blogger, Wirral blogger, Liverpool blogger,

Since my early twenties, I've avoided shirts or blouses because thanks to my bust even if I wear a shirt that is several sizes bigger than my normal dress size, I'm always left with the gaping right where my boobs are. I still remember my 20 year old self saying I wish they made women's shirts with a button specifically right in the middle of our busts to stop the shirt from gaping. This frustration ended up with me starting to wear camisoles underneath and leaving the top couple of buttons undone to quickly becoming frustrated and giving up on wearing shirts altogether. It has taken me till I'm 28 to actually give shirts another go and I'm so glad I found the brand Salamander Shirts as they specifically design their women's shirts with this problem in mind.
