My Nightly Pamper Routine To Sleep Soundly | Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon Review

Danielle Levy, Dermalogica, Sound Sleep Cocoon, skincare blogger, beauty blogger, Wirral blogger, Liverpool blogger,

Since going back to shift work after my episode of shielding, I've really appreciated having a proper night time routine and I found that having small moments of self care in my daily routine was more achievable for me rather than focusing on having a day of self care at the end of my week. This change in my nightly routine was 100% fuelled by adding the Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon into my night time skincare routine.

Now depending on how much time I've got in the evenings, it all depends how extensive my night time pamper routine is. Some days I get home from work at 9pm and have to be back up at 5am so those nights I tend to have it more of a concise routine so I can get more sleep and on my days off I tend to start my routine earlier in the evening so I can really enjoy taking this time out and looking after myself. The part of my nightly pamper routine that consistently stays the same is my skincare routine because for me a big part of self-care is to look after my body as well as my mind so I've really made an effort to actually take the time to do my night time skincare routine rather than rushing through it.

I did used to rush through my skincare routine (when I did it) like it was a job on my to-do list that I just needed to get over and done with so that I could move onto the next task before I went to bed. But taking the time to do my evening routine really gave me time to reflect on my day, the things I had seen and how I was feeling before I went to bed, doing this has helped my anxiety immensely. Starting my nightly pamper routine always starts with stepping away from social media and putting my phone away then having either a shower or a bubble bath (it all depends how much time I've got left to unwind) using some of my favourite NIVEA shower gels to added some much needed moisture into my skin.

Once out of the shower, the only time I touch my phone is to turn on a podcast because I've recently become obsessed with listening to them now (leave me your podcast suggestions in the comments!) or even when I'm driving to and from work. I then complete my usual night time skincare routine with the final step being the Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon. Now I am a huge fan of using lavender products just before I go to bed and do regularly use the This Works Deep Sleep spray and Lush's Sleepy body lotion, I basically love anything lavender scented to relax me and help me to drift off to sleep. So when the Sound Sleep Cocoon landed on my doorstep you know I was excited about it.

Reparative skin care products work their best when you're asleep

The Sound Sleep Cocoon can be used either on top of your night time moisturiser or instead of your night time moisturiser, it all depends on how dry your skin is feeling. It is designed to transform your skin overnight by optimising night time skin recovery. It uses encapsulated, motion-activated French Lavender and calming Sandalwood and Patchouli as aromatherapy to soothe the senses and promote deep, restful sleep. It also includes Persian Silk extract to reduce the signs of skin fatigue and restore vitality whilst Wu-Zhu-Yu extract provides visibly radiant skin by the morning and Tamarind Seed Polysaccharide cushions the skin, creating a nourishing cocoon of comfort for softer, more hydrated skin.

A good night's sleep can boost your creativity

I've used the Sound Sleep Cocoon both on it's own and on top of various different night time moisturisers and it works brilliantly both ways. On the days where the weather isn't too cold and my skin doesn't look too dry, I'll use it on it's own and it still gives me glowing, hydrated skin and on the days where my skin is feeling really dry and tight or it's been particularly cold I'll put a night time intensive moisturiser on then top it with the Sound Sleep Cocoon and when I wake up my skin is so soft and glowing! It's £75.00 for a 50ml jar so a little bit on the pricier side but I only use a one and a half pumps to do my whole face and neck so I can see this year lasting me a while (I'll be sure to let you guys know just how long it takes me to use). I use the time I apply it to give my face a little massage and to concentrate on taking some deep, calming breathes to help completely relax myself before I go to sleep.
