My 3 Favourite Ways To Practice Self Care This Winter | NIVEA Family

Danielle Levy, NIVEA, beauty blogger, Wirral blogger, Liverpool blogger,

As the nights start getting darker and the weather starts getting colder, I've found it so important this Winter to make sure I take the time out of my busy days to practice some little bits of self care everyday because if I'm not willing to take care of myself, who will?!

Learning When To Stop Working
Now I used to be a massive workaholic and this part of looking after myself has been the hardest thing for me to do but thankfully after a lot of hard work with Lauren Iles I've come to realise that I don't have to be running myself into the ground trying to do everything for everyone. My biggest lesson this year was learning when to say no to work and people, I only actually realised this morning when I was writing this blog post that usually I would be on my phone from early in the morning till late at night responding to emails, organising events (pre-covid time) and responding to messages and comments on Instagram. Whereas now I ignore email and Instagram notifications till 9am and try and keep my cut-off time for working to 6pm every evening. This has allowed me to take time in the evening to get some fresh air with the puppy, switch off and properly relax before another busy in the morning.

Taking Time To Look After Myself & My Skin
Since I started getting maskne earlier this year, I've really been putting so much time into my skincare routine and actually doing it consistently (yes I am sometimes that beauty blogger that skips some parts of her routine because she's tired). I used to always find my skincare routine as another tick box part of my day whereas now I really try and appreciate the time I take to do my skincare routine and pamper my skin, I also find that taking this time helps me destress from a busy or anxiety ridden day. Some of my favourite products to pamper my skin at the moment are the NIVEA Fresh Blends shower gels, Q10 Instant Recharge sheet masks and Q10 Recharging Night Cream because they leave my skin feeling super soft and smelling amazing.

Less Phone Time
This kind of ties into the first one but I have definitely tried to limit the amount of time I spend on my phone because I could easily find something on my phone to waste time on all day and be completely unproductive. Whilst not being productive is not the end of the world and it's important to take time to look after yourself, if I'm constantly wasting time playing on my phone or watching something on Netflix, my anxiety goes sky high because I know that my list of tasks is getting bigger and bigger. Now I quite the phone addict, I am literally that meme that closes one app then reopens it seconds later so I've been really trying to make a effort to break the habit of constantly being on my phone. I've been finding it easier to not go on my phone in the evening and will read a book or recently I've been watching a different Christmas movie every evening but I've been finding it hard to stay off my phone in the morning, especially on days off so it's a bit of a work in progress but I'm happy that I'm spending less time on my phone in the evening.
