I think we are all well aware of how much of a skincare addict I am and that addiction runs through to face masks as well, so when I heard that Dermalogica were launching their new Hydro Masque Exfoliant that was not only a face mask but it also gave you a fun experience whilst using it, I knew that I had to have it in my face mask collection!

The latest masque launch from Dermalogica is designed to be both a hydrating and exfoliating face masque that helps to smooth and renew for luminous, healthier-looking skin. The Hydro Masque Exfoliant (£55 for 50ml) is a vegan, gluten-free and paraben-free formula which is filled with skin loving ingredients to improve hydration levels and strengthen your skin's moisture barrier.

  • Bamboo ~ Is rich in minerals and dissolves upon activation to deliver targeted yet gentle exfoliation to prime the skin for optimal hydration.
  • Snow Mushroom ~ Holds 450 times it's weight in water and infuses the skin with hydration, antioxidants and vitamin D.
  • Phytolipids ~ Phytolipids coming from Jojoba seed, sunflower and safflower help to fortify the skin's natural moisture barrier.
  • Sugar Beets ~ Deliver amino acids that help to hydrate your skin and help to strengthen the skin's natural moisture barrier.
  • Cucumber Extract ~ Provide a soothing, refreshing finish.
My Experiences
As we all know I've been suffering quite badly from dehydrated, maskne prone skin so I've really gotten into doing face masks regularly and have been using the Hydro Masque Exfoliant once or twice a week depending on how dried out my skin feels. Before lockdown I used to buy face masks all the time and it was always something that I put in my self care routine but never actually did because I never actually took time out for myself, thankfully Lauren is helping me through her coaching sessions to change that and a big step is taking the time out of my day to do my skincare routine and to do face masks on a regular basis.

Something I've come to notice with my skincare is that I really prefer products that are more hygienic and I don't have to stick my fingers in the products. With my various health problems, I've found that sometimes I get stiff fingers and I have problems squeezing tubes to get product out. Dermalogica have got this sorted with the Hydro Masque Exfoliant which comes in a tube with a button at the top that you press down on to get the product out so even if I'm having a tough day with my joints I can still hold the tube and press down with my thumb and get product out. With the pump system, you're also able to ensure that you get all the bang for your buck cause the pump ensures that all the product comes out and there's not a bunch stuck inside that you just can't squeeze out.

I've been applying this on freshly cleansed skin, all you have to do is apply a generous amount then massage in circular motions until all the spheres have disappeared. I then leave it on for 3-5 minutes depending how dehydrated my skin is. Since the maskne I've noticed that my skin can be quite sensitive and can get red, irritated quite easily with new products, thankfully with the Hydro Masque Exfoliant my skin doesn't become red or irritated and it feels smooth and refreshed. My skin also isn't left feeling tight once I've washed the mask off which is a huge plus for someone with dry skin. I'm definitely going to be repurchasing this and keeping it in my face mask drawer (yes I'm that much of an addict that I have a whole drawer of face masks!) as it's been leaving my skin so smooth and hydrated and I've also noticed that my breakout scarring has been greatly improving since I started using it (because yes I do pick at my spots, I'm a nurse after all).

Are you a face mask addict?

Speak to you next time!
