July Favourites

I can't believe that we're already into August and I'm looking back at some of my favourites during July, 2020 has completely flown by! I vote that we don't count 2020 into our age! It's been a while since I last did a monthly favourites blog post but whilst I've been in lockdown, I've been changing up what I use and not using the same things day in day out.

I've got quite a mixture of things I've been loving this month from skincare to stationary and even a few life bits. Some of these I may have recently written about on my blog or I am about to write a blog post about them so I won't flog a dead horse and write a whole essay about them here but let me know if you've been loving any of these too.

Antipodes Hand Cream ~ I am a nurse, my hands are wrecked pretty much 85% of the time and even whilst being in shielding my hands don't look completely repaired to that of a normal person, mainly because I've still been washing my hands and using anti-bac gel so often and they've been drying out so like normal one of my all time favourites is hand cream. I don't think I can stress enough how much you should be taking good care of your hands and using hand cream frequently. This month I've been using the Antipodes Deliverance Kowchai Flower hand cream as it was kindly sent to me as a thank you from Em Sheldon and the lovely folks at Antipodes, I'm really loving it as it's a thicker hand cream but it melts straight into my hands and doesn't leave them feeling all greasy. I also love that it comes in a metal paint style tube so you get your full money's worth and can get all the product out easily.

ARK Skincare Age Protect Cleanser ~ Mid-way through July I got the chance to attend an ARK Skincare summer skin zoom event and since then I've been using the Age Protect Cleanser morning and night as well as having a more consistent skincare routine and my skin is loving it! I was breaking out a bunch from my skin being so dehydrated and me being a bit of lazy girl and not doing my skincare routine as often as I should. I've been loving that with the Age Protect Cleanser my skin doesn't feel stripped and I don't have that dry feeling after I've used it, it also smells amazing and fruity if you are someone who likes nice smelling skincare products you'll love this one!

Hair Biology Full & Vibrant Hair Mask ~ I've been highlighting my hair religiously since my late teens and since I started getting it done at The Colour Bar Wirral, I've been concentrating on taking good care of my hair in between my hair appointments and one thing I've been strict about using is hair masks every week. I've fallen in love with the Hair biology range and particularly the Full & Vibrant one as it smells amazing and keeps my hair feeling silky soft without weighting down my fine hair.

Fox & Moon Terazzo Food & Fitness Planner ~ I didn't take as good care of myself during shielding as I definitely should have and I needed to be honest with myself and press the reset button, to do this I have to write things down because having it written down means I can't just mindlessly eat rubbish. So I've been using the Fox & Moon Food & Fitness planner to write it all down, be healthier and make sure that I'm being active every day. It's also helped me with meal planning cause I notice that if I don't vary my meals I get bored and end up eating rubbish instead whereas being able to plan in advance and have it all laid out meant I stuck to eating healthier foods.

Iced Coffee ~ I'm a nurse and someone who chronically suffers with my energy levels so it's safe to say that I'm addicted to coffee and with all the amazing sunshine and warm weather we've been having during lockdown I've really gotten into making my own iced coffee at home whereas if I wasn't shielding, I 100% would have gotten in my car and gone and bought my own iced coffee from a local coffee shop. I also use sugar-free syrups to flavour them so I don't need to add any sugar into them, I usually get mine from TKmaxx but you can get them from a bunch of different places.

Reading ~ Something I never do is take time out for myself and just do something I enjoy without being go, go, go with work. I am that person that no matter how many books I've got unread at home, if I see a book that interests me or I've heard brilliant reviews about I will buy them and normally a couple of others at the same time too! I want to spend less time on my phone especially at the end of the day so I've been trying more and more to turn my phone off an hour before I go to bed and actually spend some time unwinding and reading a book before bed.

Film Nights With The Family ~ Since I've been off shielding I've been home at the same time as my family whereas before I was usually working on the same days and by the time I got home I just wanted to shower, wash my face and go straight to sleep. During the latter part of shielding when I could interact with my family more (yes I had to basically isolate myself away from my own family in my home for the first part of shielding), I've been enjoying being able to all have dinner together and curl up on the couch and watch a film. It's something that coming out of shielding I want to continue doing on a semi-regular basis.

What have you been loving in July?

Speak to you next time!
