Roccabox January Edition

My 2020 started off with 7 straight night shifts so you can imagine that myself and my skin was looking a little less enthused for the beginning of the year but with the beginning of a new month comes the arrival of new beauty boxes.

This month's Roccabox is all about getting you and your skin glowing especially if you've had one too many drinks over the festive period. I've noticed that Roccabox has started adding in a hero product each month and I don't know if this will happen every month or if this is just because it's a new year but on this month's card, they have shown that there are two different shades for the hero product and you can receive one of the two.

This month's hero product is the full-size Dirty Little Secret Jelly blush in Exposed. Now I haven't tried many jelly products so I think I expected it to be more of a true bouncy, jelly texture but this blush just feels like a lighter version of a powder blush. It's supposed to give you a sheer silky colour that blends effortlessly to give you a natural glow. It is gluten-free and cruelty-free if you look particularly for those products. The shade Exposed is a really nice light peach colour with shimmer. To go along with the blush, they've also included a blush brush from Bang Beauty. I always apply blusher with a brush but I much prefer a fuller, round bristle brush to apply my blusher with so this one isn't really for me.

I've tried a couple of the Beauty Pro sheet masks that I've received from beauty subscription boxes before and this month's box contains the Brightening Collagen sheet mask. It's supposed to help with fine lines, wrinkles and dull skin. I'm quite a fan of sheet masks as they're so easy to use and mess-free, I love to use them before a big event or going out with the girls as it's a great way of prepping the skin before layering on all the makeup! I've had one of these Daily Concepts Mother of Pearl facial sponges in a Birchbox recently and I think I've even had the charcoal version in a previous beauty subscription box. It's a soap and sponge in one and it kind of worries me that the sponge will be sitting there wet on the side of your sink. It is supposed to help clarify your skin and make it more radiant whilst improving the texture of your skin.

Lastly is the St Tropez Bronzing Water facial mist, I've actually come across other products from this range if not this exact one. It is designed to be used over or under makeup to help you develop a natural looking tan. Now I'm as pale as a milk bottle so even the lightest shade of foundation in some ranges can give me that tanned look so I haven't really got much use for a product like this but I'm sure one of my friends would be able to take it off my hands for me.

On first glance, when I first received this month's box I wasn't overly impressed with what was inside. Mainly because I feel like I'd tried or received 3/4 of the products inside the box in other beauty boxes or have been gifted to me in goody bags.

Are there any other beauty boxes you'd like me to try out?

Speak to you next time!
