Conspiracy Palette | First Impressions

Unless you have been living in an actual black hole, you will all know by now about the Shane Dawson X Jeffree Star Conspiracy palette and definitely one of my favourite parts of 2019 was managing to get my hands on this palette (and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for when the pig hand mirrors and liquid lipsticks come back into stock!). Whilst I presume pretty much everyone reading this already know all about it, I still wanted to share it with you all.

I was one of the millions of people desperately trying to get my hands on this palette online on launch day whilst on my break at work and unfortunately the website crashed but luckily I was off the next day so following two 5am starts and 14hr shifts this pin-eyed sloth got up and dragged myself to the Morphe store in Liverpool and managed to get my hands on the palette (although they didn't have anything else from the collection as it had sold out within hours the day before) before promptly getting my butt to Starbucks for some much needed coffee. I will admit that I have been dying to use this palette but I've been waiting to take pictures of it cause I don't want to mess up all the imprints!

Whilst I've loved Jeffree Star for pretty much all of 2019, I've been lusting after a bunch of his cosmetics last year, it was perfect timing when the collaboration came out with Shane Dawson and I don't know about you but I watched every minute of that 6 part documentary and loved to see the behind the scenes of creating an eyeshadow palette. Now I'm used to normal eyeshadow palettes so when I got the Conspiracy palette out of the box I was really impressed with how weighty the palette felt and you get 18 eyeshadow for £48, I don't have many eyeshadow palettes that cost that much so it was a bit rough paying that much but I can see myself get plenty of use out of some of the colours as well as encouraging me to get a bit more outside the box with some brighter eyeshadow looks.

I do feel like this palette would be great to take on a trip away as you get a range of colours from several neutrals to brighter tones with a range of mattes and shimmers. My favourite shade out of the palette is definitely Sleep Paralysis, it's a gorgeous gunmetal with brown undertones. Having never tried Jeffree Star Cosmetics before I'm so impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows, they're such high quality and are so smooth and blendable. I do find that the eyeshadows have a bit of fall out when you tap your brush into them, it's not something that puts me off using the palette or puts me off buying more of Jeffree's palettes. I'm excited to start venturing into the brighter eyeshadows and creating looks but I have heard that the brighter eyeshadows cause staining so I'll probably use some thicker concealer as my base when I try those out. If I become a bit brave this year, I might even start branching out into filming makeup looks for my channel.

Are you a fan of the Shane Dawson X Jeffree Star collab?

Speak to you next time!
