My Festive Hot Chocolate Recipe

Christmas is the perfect time to go all out with the hot chocolates and I may or may not treat myself to one every night during December as I find it the perfect way to wind down of an evening! 

I am a big fan of flavoured hot chocolate (even more so when I can add in flavours that perfect for the time of year!), I've tried all the ways you can imagine to flavour my hot drinks and at the minute one of my favourite ways to flavour them that is also Slimming World friendly is to use sugar-free, zero-calorie syrups which can be purchased online but I've been picking mine up from TK Maxx. This recipe works if you're just making one for yourself or if you're making the whole family one!

Here's my favourite way to have my hot chocolate this Christmas!

Ingredients
  • Milk of choice
  • Options hot chocolate
  • Peppermint & vanilla sugar-free syrups
  • Whipped cream
  • A candy cane

Recipe
  • Measure out however much milk you need depending on how many people you are making this for. I usually measure it by pouring it straight into the cup then pouring into a saucepan.
  • Start warming up your milk up gently on a low heat, whilst it's heating up add in 2 teaspoons of the Options hot chocolate powder per serving and whisk it into the milk to combine it. 
  • Once the hot chocolate powder is combined with the milk, it's time to add in the syrups. Now you can pick and choose how much of the syrups you want to add depending on which ones you pick up and how strong they are. I usually use 2 teaspoons of peppermint and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla, then again you need to give it a good stir to make sure that the syrups are fully combined.
  • Once the mixture is hot enough, dish it up into the cups and a Christmas themed mug is mandatory! I top mine with plenty of whipped cream and a candy cane in the side but you could add marshmallows, a crushed candy cane on top of the whipped cream or even some sprinkles or edible glitter on top.
  • Then sit back with your favourite Christmas film and enjoy!
