With all this cold cold weather at the moment, I don't know about you all reading but my poor skin is suffering and I'm really into doing as much as I can to give my skin some much needed love right now! This month I ventured even further into skincare and got to try out my first skin peel with Aesthetics To You

Aesthetics To You are a Liverpool based company in Allerton which is run by the wonderful Alison and Johanne who are both fully qualified and insured practitioners, they offer everything from facial peels and Aquagold facials to anti-wrinkle injections and lip fillers. They have a clinic based in the Physiotherapy Centre in Allerton on a Thursday between 6-9pm but they also offer mobile services that can be arranged as and when with them.

I got the chance to try out the Milk Peel which costs £45 for the entire treatment and it only takes about 15-20 minutes from consultation to you getting out the door. The milk peel is a superficial peel so it only affects the outer most layers of your skin to help give you a gentle exfoliation and get rid of dead skin cells to help your skin look plumper, smoother and glowing. It contains glycolic acid, lactic acid and salicylic acid which help to reduce fine lines, help with oily skin and help with a dull complexion.

The peel starts with being welcomed into a private treatment room where I was talked through the peel and what to expect, they also checked that I didn't have any conditions that could prevent me having a peel and checked that I hadn't had any treatments like waxing or other cosmetic treatments within the last week. It was then time to get my makeup off and give my skin a good cleanse and get rid of any makeup, oil or dirt to give the peel a fresh slate to work on. Before the peel was applied to my face, Alison explained the peel and let me know what sensation I might feel when the peel starts to work. She started on my forehead and I can honestly say I didn't feel anything until I stopped talking to Alison and Johanne and started to concentrate on it. I wouldn't say that peel was painful, Alison compared it to spiders crawling on my face, now I haven't ever had the pleasure of that but I will say I did have a little bit discomfort but when I started talking again I completely forgot about it. After two minutes, the peel is taken off and my skin was cleansed with water-soaked gauze with particular attention to any areas that I have a bit of tingling once it was removed. Finally, Alison applied an amazing honey moisturiser that gave my skin a hit of hydration to last overnight.

I was so impressed with how my skin looked and felt after the peel, my skin was literally so glowy, everyone was raving about how glowing my skin looked and my face felt incredible! I love that these are gentle enough that you can have them done every month and they have minimal maintenance, you literally leave the honey moisturiser on and then continue with your normal skincare and makeup the next day and you have next to no redness or pain. It's the perfect pre-Christmas party prep! They have kindly given me a discount code for any of my lovely local folks, if you quote the code DANIELLE25 between now and Christmas you will get the milk peel for £25 instead of £45.

Have you had a facial peel? What did you think of it?

Speak to you next time!
