Changing Up Eating Out | Spitroast Smithdown

Every day there are more and more new places to eat popping up in Liverpool and one thing I've noticed is that not many places offer cleaner alternatives for eating out (or home delivery) but Spitroast is completely turning that on its head with their locations in Liverpool and Ormskirk. A couple of weeks ago I headed to Smithdown to check out that location and let you all know what I thought of their menu.

I visited the Spitroast in Crosby back in July last year and I was so excited to see an email in my inbox at the beginning of the month inviting me back to review their Smithdown location. I brought along my gorgeous friend Rachel on my visit to Spitroast to try out the menu and give me her thoughts as we all know by now how much of a fussy cow I am so having someone that will try anything is a huge plus when I'm doing menu reviews.

For starters, we picked a couple of starters that we ended up sharing (you know you're with good friends when you end up just sharing everything!). We decided to get some of the warm crusty bread with butter and an olive oil/balsamic vinegar dip, now I'm not a huge bread fan but there is nothing nicer than warm crusty bread and butter to start off a meal. There was more than enough bread for the two of us to share so you could even get away with sharing it for a starter. You know if there's halloumi fries on the menu, I am going to be trying them out! Oh my word these were absolutely incredible, in fact they even made Rachel a halloumi fan (even after a bad experience at the Baltic Triangle)!

We visited on a Sunday so Rachel decided to try out their Sunday Roast offerings which they also have a veggie option which includes a forest mushroom pastry instead of half a rotisserie chicken, you then get the usual sides of roast potatoes, veggies, sweet potato mash as well as a veggie version of their incredible chicken gravy. I decided to try out a rotisserie chicken breast with some of their salted hand-cut chips and the amazing chicken gravy. Both myself and Rachel were blown away with how delicious and filling the mains were, it totally didn't feel like you were eating food that was much better for us! I honestly wish I knew how they made their gravy, I could eat it with everything.

For pudding, we were torn with what to have and we ended up sharing desserts cause we were both swooning over the dessert menu! We decided to go for the Nutella cheesecake and the chocolate fudge cake, both of which was just incredible! My winner was by far the Nutella cheesecake, I've never tried anything like this but it was the perfect end to the meal. It's lovely and sweet but it's not too heavy, I genuinely wanted to take another portion home with it for later!

I loved visiting the Spitroast in Smithdown, it's perfectly located just around the corner from Wave park so it's great for spending the afternoon going on a nice winter walk around the park then treating yourself to a nice meal and a delicious dessert. They also offer delivery to postcodes local to their stores. I just wish that they would open a location on the Wirral as it's incredible and I can only get it whilst I'm in Liverpool, I'd love to have it as an option for whenever we get takeaway at home.

Have you tried Spitroast?

Speak to you next time!
