Trying Out Dermalogica Skincare For A Month

Danielle Levy, Dermalogica, Skinfluencer, beauty blogger, Luxury beauty, Liverpool blogger, Wirral blogger,

A little while back I featured Dermalogica for the first time on my blog with a first impressions post and for the past month I've been trying them out every day and I wanted to share with you how I've been getting on with them. It's always risky trying out new skincare so I wanted to share with you all my honest review so if you have a similar skin type as me you can find out how it worked for me and how it may work similarly for you.

Back in September, the lovely folks at Dermalogica invited me to be a part of their Skinfluencer program and kindly gifted me some of their essential products to try out and share with you all. Having been a part of their program for the past month, I must say how super nice and helpful the girls in the team are, nothing is ever too much trouble for them. For the month I've overhauled my skincare routine and switched to solely Dermalogica products to truly put them through their paces before I reviewed them for you all. To test them out, they kindly sent me the Pre-Cleanse, Special Cleansing Gel, Daily Microfoliant, Skin Smoothing Cream and Skinperfect Primer to try out. Today I'm going to talk about everything they kindly sent me apart from the primer as I will be doing its own blog post soon.

My skin is generally pretty dry in most areas and it becomes a little bit oily around my nose and on my chin towards the end of a long day, some days it's insane how dry my skin gets and I really notice the difference in my skin when I'm wearing makeup especially as the seasons are changing and the weather is getting colder and colder. I do love that all the Dermalogica packaging is simple but classic, it really reminds me of products you'd see laid out when you go for a facial!

I've used my mini Dermalogica skincare routine day and night for the past month and I'm actually really impressed, great things come in simple packaging! I'm not going to lie there has been a couple of days this month that I've been a bit girl lazy and either fallen asleep before I've taken my makeup off or used a makeup wipe to take my makeup off quickly before bed and boy have I noticed the difference between actually using the Dermalogica skincare and the days that I don't use it.

One of my top favourite products is definitely the Pre-Cleanse, Daily Microfoliant and Special Cleansing Gel, as you can tell I really like the cleansing part of the routine. Using the Pre-Cleanse every time I wear makeup and its liking giving myself a pamper every evening, not every product from Dermalogica has a strong scent and some of them don't even a scent at all but this cleansing oil smells so delicious! It has managed to battle against my toughest waterproof mascara and come out the winner without completely drying out my skin. Day and night I've been using the Special Cleansing Gel to help cleanse and clear my skin without stripping it of hydration. The cleanser is scent-free and contains balm mint and lavender to help calm the skin whilst ridding it of impurities. After I've used these two, my skin feels so insanely soft and still does the next morning before I even use any of the other products!

I hate to admit that I'm a bit girl lazy and do forget to exfoliate my skin so whilst I've been trying out the Daily Microfoliant which can be used every day, I've only been using it once or twice a week after I'd cleansed my skin and I think if I could get my butt into gear more often with my skincare I would use it every day (let's be real, after work I'm desperate to go straight to sleep so I just do the bare minimum in terms of skincare!). I love that you mix it with water in your palm to make the scrub which contains rice enzymes, white tea and oatmeal. Lastly, I've been using the Skin Smoothing Cream morning and night to help soothe my poor dry skin. Their moisturiser has Hydramesh technology which helps to lock in the moisture whilst helping to repel environmental stresses. I get dry skin mainly on my cheeks and forehead and this helps to keep my hydrated without weighing down my skin. As the weather is getting colder, I have noticed that I need to add in either a more intensive moisturiser or a hydrating serum so I've been using the Skin Smoothing Cream on the days when I don't need a really intense moisturiser.
