My Introduction To Pat McGrath Labs

Danielle Levy, Pat McGrath Labs, Pat McGrath Manchester, Selfridges Manchester, Selfridges, beauty blogger, Wirral blogger, Liverpool blogger, beauty,

Hello, my name is Danielle and I am a makeup addict. Growing up I'd always loved makeup and I was into watching makeup videos on YouTube back when it was old school and there used to be 8-10 main beauty gurus on there. Since entering the world of blogging I've been able to embrace my love of makeup and share it all with you. A few weeks ago I spent the afternoon with the lovely ladies at the new Pat McGrath counter in Manchester trying out some of their products and you know that I had to share it with you all.

Pat McGrath has been crowned the most influential makeup artist in the world by Vogue's Anna Wintour and has even been awarded an MBE for her services to the fashion and beauty industry. For twenty years she's been designing and developing products and launching luxury brands, some of which I love and now I'm excited that she's not only launched her own makeup brand but she's expanding her makeup line and releasing some new incredible products and she’s brought the world of Pat McGrath Labs up north.

Last month the amazing Pat McGrath opened up her first counter outside of London close to me in Manchester and I got the chance to head along to the counter and try out her products for myself. I've loved Armani for years and I couldn't believe it when I found out that Pat McGrath designed the Luminous Silk foundation so when I found out she'd launched her own foundation, you know I couldn't wait to try it!

Something that I really need to learn to do is do my eyeshadow before the rest of my makeup, every time I get my makeup done they always do my eyes first and I'm always so indecisive that I can never decide what colours and look that I want to wear so I always risk it with doing my eyes after my base is done. The eye look revolves around the latest addition to the Mothership palette line, the Mothership VI palette which comes with 10 eyeshadows and has a selection of mattes, shimmer and glitters. It was used to create a gorgeous purple smokey eye look with some much needed sparkle included. It was finished off with a bit of Permagel eyeliner smoked into the lash line to help make my very light blonde lashes look thicker and fuller at the roots and lashings of FetishEyes mascara which you can actually layer without it going clumpy and getting that spider eyelash look. You can pop a bit on in the morning and then layer more on later in the day for a more intense look that can take you from day to night without it either crumbling all over your cheeks or just becoming a clumpy mess.

For the base, we decided to go for the Sublime Perfection range which includes the primer, foundation and powder to create the perfect base. The Sublime primer looks incredible in sleek, black packaging, it is the first step in her iconic system. It's designed to be skincare and makeup in one, it smoothes, hydrates and renews your skin to turn back the time on your skin by preventing any moisture loss with added hyaluronic acid (a moisture magnet). The Sublime foundation currently comes in 28 shades in 4 categories, light, light medium, medium, and medium dark. It is made to work well with foundation brushes, sponges and even your fingers to give your skin the coverage you desire but still make your skin look like skin. A little goes a long way with this foundation and I managed to get that full coverage look that I desire from foundations whilst still having a lightweight, breathable feel to it. The formula contains vita-serum complex which helps to nourish your skin by helping to activate the production of hyaluronic acid within your own skin.

Now Pat McGrath has some incredible lip products that are cult classics so you know that I was really excited to try them out and see what the hype is all about. To hydrate my chronically dry lips before applying the lip colour, I tried out the balm from the Skin Fetish Duo which can be used to highlight the skin, to hydrate your lips and you can even use to get that glossy lid look. It's been years since I've just a gloss but going for a lip liner and gloss look really made me fall in love with lip glosses again! I ended up trying out the Lust lip gloss in Future Femme which is a stunning pink with duo-chrome shimmer in, these give you that glossy look without being super sticky! I managed to get all the way home from Manchester with my hair down and it never once stuck to my lipgloss which is a major achievement for me.

I'm so impressed with Pat McGrath Labs, everything I tried worked really well with my skin and it all lasted well into the evening without any special setting spray or anything which is a big feat considering I touch my face a lot and was suffering badly from allergies at the time. I ended up actually picking up the Lust lip gloss in Future Femme because I'd fallen in love with it that much and I can see myself going back to pick up the foundation once I've used up some of the foundations I've already got!

Have you tried Pat McGrath?

Speak to you next time!
