Getting Inspired & Travel Envy With #BlogAtTheBeach

Now it's not that hard to see that I don't feature a whole lot of travel content on my blog because well I don't do a whole lot of travelling. Being a workaholic, chronically fatigued and a bit of an introvert, when I actually get time off work especially during autumn/winter I literally just want to not move from my bed and catch up on all my favourite tv shows. Thankfully last week I was invited along to the latest Icelolly Blog At The Beach event in Manchester and it's reignited my love for travelling.

Before the event, I had a bit of a fear that I wouldn't actually make it to the event. The week before the event I had a fairly bad allergic reaction in work which then left my nose, throat and lungs feeling awful, that combined with finishing nights I thought I was going to sleep through all my alarms (I have done this accidentally before) and miss the event completely, thankfully as you can tell from this blog post I made it. It wouldn't be travelling in Autumn if I didn't head to Starbucks and treat myself to a pumpkin spice latte because it would just be rude not to! I'm still pretty new to travelling to Manchester and basically know how to get from Manchester Victoria to the Arndale Centre and that's about it so I'm so thankful that they amazing Francessa and Gem met me at Picadilly station and walked me to the venue.

This time the #BlogAtTheBeach event was themed around Barbados which I was really excited for, I'm a palest of the pale Scot so I really struggle with the very hot holidays but seeing images and videos from Barbados was making me want to drop everything and book a trip there! When I arrived at Icelolly HQ we had the entire basement section which was filled with deckchairs, rum cocktails and grass umbrellas as well as mangos and coconuts scattered around on the tables to give us that total tropical vibe.

Whilst we're thinking about Barbados, the lovely folks from the Barbados tourism board came to tell (and show) us all about Barbados and how it's so much more than just a sea and sun holiday destination. There's everything from stunning walks, an early morning marathon, snorkelling and diving to incredible places to eat, rum tours, spas, animal sanctuaries and marine parks. The lovely folks at the Barbados tourist board have been doing a lot of work lately to show tourists that Barbados is not just somewhere to go and lie on a beach for your entire holiday (you can do this if you really wish), it's somewhere to go and explore, make friends with the locals and have fun. It's somewhere you can visit year in, year out and still have new experiences.

I was so excited to find out that one of my most inspiring people on Instagram Katy would actually be at the event and doing a talk all about Instagram and changing up your content. I've followed Katy for ages and was really inspired by her this year when she completed a photo a day challenge on her Instagram page, I loved how creative she was able to get and how beautiful her pictures turned out. Now I've always struggled with being creative particularly with my images and I've never used photoshop before but after hearing Katy's talk she's really inspired me try and add a bit more creativity into every day and maybe to even try a photo a day challenge. In fact, I might try doing a photo everyday challenge in October and build up from there.

Unfortunately, as the trains tend to do from Manchester Picadilly my trains were getting cancelled left, right and centre so I had to leave just as the afterparty was starting and they had an incredible evening of games planned, including beer pong! I'm gutted I didn't get to join in any of the games which sounded amazing but I still managed to win a prize which I was completely gobsmacked because I never win anything but from my stories on the day I won a £50 voucher towards an excursion on a holiday which means I've got even more of an excuse to book a holiday!

Have you caught the travel bug with the changing of the seasons?

Speak to you next time!
