Introducing Becca Lipsticks

I remember back in July last year when I was first introduced to Becca, I said how one of the things they were missing were lipsticks and well they've finally gone and launched a new bullet lipstick range which I was so excited to try out!

The lovely girls at Becca Liverpool invited into the counter last month for the launch of their new lipstick line. I've tested out a couple of different products from Becca now and I've been dying for them to release a lipstick range whether it be a bullet or liquid lipstick. The new lipsticks are supposed to be a silky, satin bullet formula which is supposed to last for 8 hours. I have perpetually dry lips no matter how much water I drink or lip balm I apply so I was really intrigued by these when I noticed that these lipsticks contain hyaluronic acid, avocado and olive oil to help hydrate, nourish and smooth your lips.

The whole range has 30 different shades which are split into red and nude colours which are then further split into three different tones to help you find your perfect shade for your skin tone, cool, warm, and neutral.

My Thoughts
Of course, I ended up picking up two different shades in the typical shades that I go for, a nude pink and deep berry. Unintentionally I ended up picking two shades from the cool range, one from the nude section (Orchid) and one from the red section (Merlot). Each lipstick is priced at £20 for a 3.3g lipstick and comes in a really substantial, gorgeous gold packaging with a magnetic closure.

I do really like how they help you decide your undertone, it's all based of whether you look good in bright white, cream or both instead of the traditional 'what colour do your veins look' test. I didn't end up using this little test as I've been wearing lipstick for so long that I tend to stay in my lane with colours and know what colours work for my pale skin tone and I always go for those, I will take this rule with me going forward for any out of the box colours I think about purchasing, although I think I've hit my limit with buying any lip colours as I've got way too many already.

For me, it takes 3 light swipes to get an opaque colour on my lips. I don't often use lipliners with bullet lipsticks (I'm awful, I know!) so I thought that fair is fair and I would test out these lipsticks without a lipliner for a fair and true test. Swatched on the back of my hand, these do smudge very easily as you would expect of bullet lipstick but once I applied to my lips, I didn't notice it smudging around my lips or bleeding onto my foundation. I did, however, notice it transferring onto drinks/cups but even though it transferred onto other things, I didn't notice it disappearing from my lips. The lipsticks have a really creamy texture and I was very surprised that when I took them off at the end of the day my lips were still really well hydrated (normally they are verging on getting that weird layer of dry, chapped skin). I applied them at about 10am in the morning and they survived a day of eating and drinking with me still wearing them till about 7pm, albeit the application didn't look perfect at 7 (the food and drink pretty much did that) when I was taking it off but it still managed to last till then.

I am pretty impressed with these lipsticks, I've been testing them out for the past couple of weeks and they are holding pretty true to their word with their claims. As with usual dark colours, it is very apparent with Merlot if I don't line my lips, this is partly due to user error as I've never been one of those people that can create a perfect lip line without the help of lip liner so it's something to bear in mind if you are more like me. I'm glad to find a bullet lipstick that keeps my lips hydrated and I love the shade Orchid, it's the perfect everyday plumy pink colour (I have naturally darker pink lips so light nudes can look really odd on me) and it's the one that my hand has been naturally gravitating to to go with any makeup look.
