Newlife Moreton Store Launch

I'm forever on the hunt for cute pieces of clothing to wear that suit my style but that you don't see pretty much everyone else in Liverpool wearing. I also don't tend to stick to a few brands when I piece outfits together, I really like mixing up my outfits so I will choose pieces that literally cost a couple of quid with more investment pieces. Last month I was invited to shop launch on my side of the water (normally 95% of the events I go to are in Liverpool!) and it all focused on picking clothing items you liked and not just shopping it for the brand with a charity focus included as well!

Newlife is a charity that supports disabled and terminally ill children throughout the UK. They support the children and their families by funding specially trained nurses as well as funding and running a fast-track equipment service for children desperately in need of equipment that is either not funded by their local services or is delayed. Newlife was originally born in 1991 as the Birth Defects Foundation and changed into the Newlife foundation in 2008.

Last month, they opened up their first store up North (all their other stores are in the Midlandsin the Wirral. Their stores offer everything from fashion, accessories, formal wear, swimwear, children's clothing as well as the occasional bits of furniture, electrical items and toys. All the items in their stores are brand new and have been donated by companies in the UK and Europe to help promote companies to be more environmental (yes I'm referring to Burberry burning £28m worth of stock to protect the brand).

A couple of weeks ago, the lovely folks invited me down to the launch of their new Moreton store (it's on the Wirral). I didn't know too much about the Newlife stores so I was really intrigued to see what things they would be selling. Of course, an amazing group of Liverpool bloggers turned up for the event, it was so nice to be able to catch up with everyone on the night.

So when you walk into the Moreton store most of the women's clothing is separated into sizes then the style of clothing so you're not wandering around trying to find out size in different items. My only downside was that there wasn't massive amounts for my size (14/16) but to be fair there have only really been so many stores on the high street that offer my size clothing/plus-sized clothing (which is about the average women's size in the UK) meaning that 90% of it is bought out at full price so there isn't really much to donate after all that. As all the clothing is donated by different companies throughout the UK and Europe as part of their agreement with Newlife, all the clothing donated has to have the company name taken off the item, so either tags are cut out or the company name is covered. That being said some things are completely obvious what brand they come from, whereas some of the items such as the clothing it becomes less obvious.

On the launch night, we were able to browse the new stock they've just got in and purchase our favourite pieces. The co-founder Sheila Brown was also there on the night to tell us all about the Newlife foundation and what the Newlife stores are all about. Whilst I was there I picked up a gorgeous black cross body bag with gold hardware and a blush pink pleated midi skirt (I have been searching for a skirt exactly like this all Spring and Summer!). Before we left they kindly gave us a little box of goodies to take home with us, my box had an intriguing jelly sheet mask, scarf (perfect now that it's starting to go a bit colder!) and a couple of perfume samples.

I'm so excited that Newlife has opened up near me as I love mixing up where I buy my clothing from and I feel a bit better shopping there as I know that some of the money from the items goes towards the charity (part of the money raised from sales will obviously go back into upkeeping the stores and paying the staff that work there).

Have you heard of Newlife before?

Speak to you next time!
