Dinner with Trattoria 51

By now you all know that I am the world's fussiest eater, so I'm forever on the hunt for places that I can eat and not feel like a child. I legit could eat Italian food all day every day, so of course I was really excited to get an invite to Trattoria 51's blogger dinner last month!

Trattoria 51 is an incredible, family-friendly Italian restaurant in the heart of Liverpool. From the interior to the menu, the entire place is incredible. The idea behind the entire menu is that it's like the delicious home cooked meals that an Italian mother or grandmother would serve up. Not only does the menu have that authentic Italian feel, it's all the best, freshest ingredients for the best prices. Another fab thing about the menu is that almost all of the menu can be made gluten-free, so it makes it the perfect place for everyone to go out for dinner!

For the blogger dinner, we were sat on the second-floor dining area that overlooks the bar and the rest of the restaurant. Whilst there were quite a few bloggers that I knew, there were a couple at the blogger's dinner that I didn't know so the perfect touch was that everyone had assigned placemats with names and blog names on (a perfect touch cause I am awful at remembering names if someone's name is completely different to their blog name). After we'd all had a glass of prosecco and laughed at everyone's weird celebrity crushes, it was time to try out all the delicious food they had on offer for us.

To start I went for the Antipasto Misto (without all the different hams), although mine was missing mozzarella for some reason, I also end up trying some of the garlic bread with cheese, both of which were absolutely delicious. My one downside about going out for dinner is that I can barely eat a main course and a dessert, so I'd thought ordering the Antipasto Misto without meat would give me a smaller starter but boy was I wrong so if you have a small stomach like me, be warned that even the starter portions are huge so you really are getting your money worth!

I am all about pasta dishes, in fact they're always my favourite thing to order off the menu so of course I went for the Penne Polpette. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the meatballs were so tender that they just fell apart. The tomato sauce with mozzarella were the perfect accompaniment to the dish. Of course, I had to go for the chocolate option for dessert (there truly is no other way to end a meal!). The chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream was perfect in every way, it was perfectly cooked so that it was still gooey inside. It was the perfect ending to the meal.

Trattoria 51 was a huge hit during the dinner and has become a firm favourite of mine when I need somewhere for dinner. I can't wait to come back and try out their pizzas (another favourite of mine) with Sam of course! I'd highly recommend you add Trattoria 51 to your list of places to eat in the city centre, especially if you're travelling into Liverpool on holiday.

What's your favourite Italian dish?

Speak to you next time!
