"I don't have time to do all that makeup", "I don't want to look orange", "I don't know what suits me", "I don't know what products suit my skin". Any of these sound like something you have said yourself or heard someone you know mutter these words? I got the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to attend a YSL masterclass with the lovely Fred Letailleur where he broke down these makeup myths at my local counter in Debenhams.

Fred Letailleur has become the master of makeup, he's done makeup on some of my favourite celebrities and he's worked for some of my favourite high-end makeup brands. He's worked for Armani for 11 years and has worked for YSL for the past 7 years. What puts Fred above all the other makeup artists I've met is that he takes the time to listen to whoever he is doing makeup on, understands what they are looking for and listens to their makeup expectations and turns them into a reality.

As all good makeup masterclasses start, this one started with a browse around the counter with a glass of prosecco. I arrived early (as usual) for the masterclass and as I'm well versed in what YSL offer, I was able to spend the time chatting and catching up with Fred since I met him at my last YSL eventOnce everyone had arrived and looked around the counter, it was time for Fred to tell us about himself and get down to the nitty-gritty of finding out what people don't like about makeup and why. At the masterclass, there was a wide range of ages and level of skill in applying makeup but regardless of people's level of skill in makeup, everyone still had makeup myths and things they needed help with.

Fred took us through an entire makeup look from start to finish, taking us from skincare and perfecting that base to makeup tips and cheats and the finished look. One of my favourite parts of the masterclass was talking through the skincare (I'm really loving skincare at the moment), Fred talked about the importance of the double cleanse to ensure your skin is makeup-free, clean and prepped ready for your makeup. Both of the skincare products were from the Top Secrets range, first up is the Universal Makeup Remover was is an amazing balm cleanser, I'm all about balm cleansers for removing makeup. Then there was the cleansing water for removing anything that might have been missed by the first cleanse and really making sure your skin is nice and clean.

By the end of the masterclass, I came away wanting the new All-In-One Glow Foundation, Touche Eclat Colour Correcting Primer and Volupte Liquid Colour BalmI had such great time at the YSL masterclass, Fred and all the lovely ladies at YSL Liverpool were so helpful (and very bad influences at times!) and their passion for YSL and makeup shows through whenever you get any advice or speak to them.

What's your favourite YSL product?

Speak to you next time!
