Afternoon Tea With Patisserie Valerie

Patissere Valerie afternoon tea Debenhams Liverpool

Patisserie Valerie has always been a treat for birthdays and special occasions in my family. In Liverpool, it's tucked away in the Metquarter so unless I'm purposefully going to the Metquarter for something, I tend to forget that you can nip in there for lunch, a delicious coffee and cake and even afternoon tea! However, at the beginning of November, Patisserie Valerie joined the Liverpool One family and added a second location in Debenhams and they kindly invited me along to check out the new cafe.

I couldn't really go to afternoon tea at Patisserie Valerie without taking my mum Valerie, now could I?! The invite couldn't have come at a more perfect time as between being a full-time nurse and having a blog/youtube channel, I barely have any time for anything else so we decided to kill two birds with one stone, start off with some afternoon tea and then have a full day of Christmas shopping!

Tucked away at the bottom of Debenhams in Liverpool One is the inviting Patisserie Valerie cafe that opened at the beginning of the month, the perfect place for a spot of coffee and cake after a day full of Christmas shopping! With the afternoon tea, you get the choice of either tea or coffee but as a tea addict did I really choose anything other than English breakfast tea?!

Starting off with a pot of tea (and you actually get enough for 3 cups of tea which is amazing if you ask me!) whilst we waited for the afternoon tea, it gave me and my mum plenty of time to chat about Christmas presents and particularly decorating for Christmas! Arriving on a beautiful 3-tier cake stand, it seriously looked too good to eat. Now I'm not a massive sandwich person so I loved that two-thirds of the afternoon tea are dessert related, perfect for someone with a sweet tooth like me!

I loved the plain scones with clotted cream and fruit jam, I am all about warm scones with a side of loose leaf tea. I personally have my scone the Devonian way, clotted cream first then jam on top but ironically my mum does it the complete opposite way. I also loved the miniature versions of their cake slices that were included, particularly the double chocolate cake slice. Let's be real who doesn't love a bit of chocolate cake?!

I would highly recommend going and checking out the new Patisserie Valerie cafe in Debenhams in L1. The afternoon tea is so good and the perfect addition to a day of Christmas shopping. You can even get a wide variety of drinks and sweet treats there to fuel all that shopping!

What's your favourite place for afternoon tea?

Speak to you next time!
