Cake And Coffee At Patisserie Valerie

I mentioned at the start of this year that I want to start featuring more food related posts and videos on my blog and youtube channel. And here I am back with my first food related post courtesy of Patisserie Valerie in Liverpool!

Last Monday I was invited down to Patisserie Valerie Liverpool to try out their new Madame Valerie Gateau in a bloggers coffee and cake morning. It was such a perfect blogger event as we don't normally get to sit and gab over coffee and cake. It was so nice to be able to catch up with some of my favourite bloggers and meet some new ones, I also got to meet Antonia's gorgeous little boy Gabriel who is the sweetest little macaroon lover.

If you have not been introduced, let me. Patisserie Valerie is a gorgeous patisserie that makes you feel like you've stepped inside a French patisserie from the 1950's, thanks to all the gorgeous decor. It was all started back in 1926 in Soho, London by Madame Valerie. However they've now expanded across the UK so you don't have to travel far to try out their delicious cakes and pastries. They do everything from celebration cakes, gluten-free cakes and treats, slices, pastries, wedding cakes, gelato, as well as a range of drinks to accompany them. All of which makes it the perfect place to have a cake and coffee catch up in.

After trying their delicious macaroons and taking a million and one photos of our coffees and cakes, Emma and Sophie introduced us to the new addition, the Madame Valerie Slice. This delicious and stunning cake/slice was designed by Kirsty Bignell after the competition they ran last year. The cake features layers of chocolate sponge and sweet caramel cream with a sprinkling of honeycomb pieces. The top is decorated with white chocolate and salted caramel truffles and chocolate cigarettes surrounding the cake. Whilst the full cake comes in at £32.95, you can also pick up one of their slices as a sweet treat for just £2.95. You need to get there quick though as this limited edition cake is only around to April and once you taste it you'll be running back for another slice.

This is the perfect sweet treat for me, although if you don't have a large sweet tooth the slices are a great alternative and are also perfect if you aren't a massive cake person (even me who has a huge sweet tooth, can't eat full cake slices) as it's not too much. The balance between the chocolate sponge and caramel cream is perfect, neither overpowers the other. I do wish there were slightly more honeycomb pieces (but that's just cause I love honeycomb!).

Thank you so much to Emma and Sophie for letting me come along to try out this delicious new creation. I'm already planning when I can pick up my next slice! You can check out this cake and find your local Patisserie Valerie here.

Let me know what you think if you try it out!

Speak to you next time!
*Patisserie Valerie invited me down to try out their new launch, all opinions and views are my own.
