Letter to my teen self

This week I thought I would do something a little bit different. On Wednesday I turn 23 so I wanted to write a letter to my teen self. Before I started writing this, I was completely oblivious that there has actually been a book written that includes advice letters from 70 authors to their teen self, which you can find here. I thought I would write a letter to my 13 year old self and encourage anyone that wants to do the same to go for it!!

Dear Teen Me,

I know right know everything is all big and exciting, you've just moved into high school and you are meeting some absolutely amazing people that will be in your life for years to come and some that will only be in your life for a few short amazing years.

My biggest thing to tell you is to ENJOY IT! You only get your childhood once, take your time to appreciate it, think about the what GCSE's & A-levels you want to do and what you would like to spend the rest of your life doing. You are going to begin to realise that throughout your teen years and into your adult life you will suffer from anxiety and will begin to push people away with your anxiety. If I could wish anything for you, it would honestly be that you never got it. This anxiety will push away some friends and boyfriends that you really cared for. However you will learn to live with it and manage it!

Appreciate your family and spend more time with them. Yes they will drive you round the bend, annoy you, you will fight/argue with them, but you will love them for it! Get out more and spend time going out with your family, spend time with your nan and value every minute you have with them!

One thing I will say is for you to do is appreciate your metabolism and start eating better and getting some exercise. You will begin to struggle with your weight towards the end of your high school career, so start appreciating eating healthier and start getting up and out more. It is definitely easier to put the weight on than it is to loose it! Having said that you are beautiful, you may not think you are during high school and unless you do it in high school you will not realise it until Steph's gets married! But you are beautiful and the sooner you realise it, the sooner other people will realise it.

Appreciate everything in your life right now cause in a few short years it's all going to change!
