Roccabox Vs Birchbox | October Edition

Danielle Levy, Roccabox, Birchbox, Battle of the beauty boxes, beauty, beauty blogger, Liverpool blogger,

It's been forever since we've done a Roccabox Vs Birchbox battle so it's Autumn and it's about time we had another beauty box battle! I love comparing Roccabox and Birchbox as they're similarly priced but both offer some amazing new brands for me to try.

The October Birchbox comes in a beautiful light blue striped box with a floral accent and the phrase 'Days Like These' on the top. This month's box is all about the changing of the season and transitioning into Autumn with all my favourite things including cosying up at home and indulging in pumpkin spiced lattes! I love that this box is all about having a cosy pamper night at home and you can truly look after your body this Autumn. As well as all the amazing products including this box, they also added a sample of the Lumene Hydration Recharge Overnight Cream which looks perfect for putting some much needed hydration back into my skin.

I can't remember what beauty subscription box it was but I had a miniature of the Number 4 Prep & Protect Spray which is a fab leave in spray conditioner. I love using these after I've washed my highlighted hair as if I don't take care of it properly it can become dehydrated and in bad condition so this spray is perfect as it detangles, provides UV protection and gives your hair a boost of moisture. Of course, this year Charcoal seems to have blown up and pretty much every product you could think of has it in, I'm not quite sure how I feel/how I'm going to use this Multi-Functional Charcoal Soap Sponge as it's a sponge and cleanser in one which I think is just so mad! I love that not only have Birchbox included a prep & protect spray but they've also included the Amika Soulfood Nourishing hair mask that only has to be left on for 5-10 minutes for full effect. It's filled with sea buckthorn berry that helps to intensely hydrates, repairs damage and helps to seal your split ends.

It's nice to have a mascara that can stand up to me rubbing my eyes in the windy, rainy weather that we get at this time of year, Birchbox has included the Maxfactor 2000 Calorie mascara. This classic mascara has been around since I first knew about makeup but the cult classic that gives volume to thin lashes for fuller, more magnified lashes that are smudge-proof. The lovely folks over at LALALAB kindly gifted us to 40 free prints which is making me even more excited as you will all know why from my Jessops blog post! Lastly in this month's box is Thermotherapy Warming Silver Foil Mask from the folks at BeautyPro. I'm really excited to try out this self-warming sheet mask but it's packed full of vitamin C and green tea to help brighten my skin and reduce irritation.

For October, Roccabox has gone for a similar theme as Birchbox, focusing all about the transition into Autumn and celebrating Autumnal beauty! The box is filled with products for the perfect cosy pamper night in at home.

First up is a sample of the Agent Provocateur Aphrodisiaque Perfume which is a mix of floral, fruity and musky, it's the perfect scent for this time of the year. I've never heard of the brand Ooharr before but with the brightness of the packaging of this nourishing face mask is making me want to open it and try it out immediately! I've had a bunch of Bilou bath and body products through subscription boxes and winning a competition prize and boy do I love their products, this Cotton Candy Foam Lotion legit smells like sweet caramel and it's making me crave cotton candy!

Roccabox's last two products are thankfully both hair-based, something I'm super happy to see! This months box also has a hair mask although this one is a bigger sample size it's the Coco & Eve Super Nourishing Hair Masque, it's supposed to be a coconut and fig hair masque and surprisingly it smells really nice and I can't really smell the coconut in it (I really don't like coconut). I'm excited to test this one out as the years of highlighted hair can really damage my hair so I really invest in products to help protect and nourish it, this hair masque is an amazing 5 in 1 treatment that helps to restore dry, damaged hair and transforms it into shinier, nourished and healthier hair in just 10 minutes. Lastly is the Hairon Detangling Hairbrush, I love these small hand-held brushes as they're perfect for keeping in your handbag and I've noticed that I don't seem to moult as much when I use them! This brush from Hairon can be used on both wet and dry hair so perfect for brushing deep conditioning treatments/masques through your hair.

Now onto my winner for October.......Birchbox!!

Whilst both of the boxes this month were amazing and have some amazing new products, I feel like the Birchbox just had more products in it that are totally geared towards me. I'm especially excited for the sheet mask and hair products as my skin and hair could really use a bit of love right now with the changing of the seasons.

What was your winning box?

Speak to you next time!
