Feeling Like a New Women | The Colour Bar Wirral

I've spent the best part of 2018 recovering from a massive asthma attack, yes you read that right and part of recovering involved playing it safe with things like dying my hair. So even though I really needed my hair doing back in March when it all happened, I've waited until August when it desperately needed doing and thankfully Becky at The Colour Bar helped me transform my hair back into the gorgeous shorter, blonde shade that I'm used to!

The Colour Bar is an incredible salon that has been in Bebington since 2008 and originally started off as two people in the back of a nail salon. But boy did it go from strength to strength and grew into the amazing salon that it is today. To people local to me on the Wirral or Liverpool, you might recognise it by its former name Pink Graffiti Hair Salon. Becky the owner and manager of The Colour Bar has been dedicated to learning all about hair colours and she even completed the Wella master colour programme so she is now a master colour expert so I knew my hair was in good hands! I love that when you walk in it doesn't have a traditional hair salon vibe, it feels like you've gone to a relaxed coffee shop that you can also get your hair done at as well!

Becky started my hair transformation with a consultation where I came in, had a patch test and we talked about what I was looking to get done and how much it would cost me. Whilst I was there I also paid the deposit for my appointment. On the day, of course, I had to bring a Pumpkin Spiced Latte with me because well it'd be rude not to! Sam also came along on the day to help me film it all for my YouTube channel.

When I arrived we sat upstairs at the colour table and Becky had a look at my hair and the condition off it then got off to work mixing the perfect blonde dye. When I get my highlights done I normally have them tightly knit especially if I haven't had them done for a while so that I don't big chunks of dark blonde and the colour looks a lot fresher, because of this it normally takes FOREVER to have the foils put in and not gonna lie sometimes it can hurt (some hairdressers have really pulled on the piece of hair whilst they're putting the dye on it!). Becky was amazing, she got the foils done super fast and it didn't hurt in the slightest (ladies and gentlemen I've found my new go-to hairdresser!!).

After the dye had been on for long enough, it was time to tone and Wellaplex. The toner helped to blend the highlights and my non-dyed hair together so that I literally didn't look a state! Becky then used the Wellaplex treatment which is an optional add-on treatment but a highly recommended step to help protect and strengthen your hair by reconstructing the inner bonds of your hair, it also helps me to ensure my hair can be as healthy as possible considering it's been dyed for years!

Lastly, it was time to wash it all out (you can't deny getting your hair washed at the hairdressers is one of the best bits!) and get it cut into an amazing style that works for me and my lifestyle. Becky cut my fringe back in and we cut off several inches to a blunt edge which made my hair look thicker and she also put a couple of layers so when I curled it, it wasn't all one length which is the amazing cut that you see above. I'm so in love with my hair, it turned out amazing and I didn't feel like I was spending all afternoon in a hair salon! My hair feels in such a good condition and my hair has never felt so healthy after having a full head of highlights.

I have been dying my hair since I was a late teenager and as such I've been to so many different hairdressers at a variety of price points and I've never felt so comfortable and reassured than when I sat down with Becky, she completely got what I was about and what I wanted for my hair and how it had to suit my lifestyle. Like most hair salons, The Colour Bar has a range of different prices depending on what hairdresser you want to go for but even for Becky, the owner and master hair stylist it was super reasonably priced. I'd highly recommend heading over to The Colour Bar, it's super easy to get it (it's right by the train station), super reasonably priced for amazing services with amazing staff that are so friendly and nice!

  1. I have never ever put a colour on my hair! I feel like I'm seriously missing out on something in my life! But I have no idea what I would even do, layers were a big enough decision for me haha! The colour looks gorgeous on you! The salon sounds like the type of place that would instantly feel comfortable and homey!
