Since I started Slimming World and have been trying to change my eating habits, I've found it increasingly difficult to find some really nice places to go out to eat that don't include me just having a salad (I'm yet to find a salad I like) or a jacket potato! Thankfully the lovely people at Spitroast Kitchen Crosby invited me in to try out their menu and reassure me that I can go out for lunch/dinner and have amazing clean and organic food that's actually on plan!

Spitroast Kitchen has been in Liverpool for several years now with its two locations in Crosby and Smithdown (which is currently being renovated and made even more amazing). Spitroast Kitchen are all about creating amazing clean and organic meals that suits everyone's tastes and preferences. All of the chicken is free-range and they have made as much of their menu organic as they can, they also make all of their food fresh to order so you can guarantee that nothing is bought in, pre-made or frozen. Their philosophy is that their food should always be nutritious, freshly prepared in the right way and good for you.

When I visited last week, it's not hard to see why it's booming (word of advice, book a table in advance. Just trust me and book a table). I had just finished nights that morning so was starting to feel the dreaded rush of tiredness over me as we travelled over, but thankfully spending the day with my mother and having all the delicious food definitely helped! When we arrived, the lovely folks at Spitroast Kitchen had reserved us a table front and centre in the window (perfect lighting for pictures I must say!) and they were all so friendly and nice.

There was so much choice on the menu, we decided to start off with a couple of drinks. Right as you walk in Spitroast, you are met by a beautiful tiled bar in front of the open air kitchen so you can actually see just how fresh your food is and how it's been made. Whilst we were enjoying our drinks and deciding on the menu, our lovely server came over to check if we needed a hand and also helped by making some suggestions of amazing things to try out. As a previous waitress myself, I always make the effort to get suggestions off the servers/waitress as they see the food day in day out and have normally tried about 80% of the menu so they know the best things to try and also the best things to push you out of your comfort zone.

My mum and I decided to go for different things on the menu. Seen as it was Sunday my mum decided to go for the Sunday Spitroast Dinner (for £10.50) which includes half a rotisserie chicken, crispy roast potatoes, sweet potato mash, glazed parsnips, rosemary peas and chicken gravy. Whilst you may think that it doesn't look like a lot on the plate, my mum just about managed to finish her plate and couldn't stop talking about how it was one of the best roast dinners she's eaten out. The roast dinner also comes with creamed greens that my mum wasn't a massive fan of so they kindly offered to substitute it out for another veg so she opted for broccoli instead. I'd decided to try out the main meals on the dinner menu, going for the chicken breast with a side of hand-cut, salted chips and chicken gravy. The chicken was perfectly cooked, it literally fell apart like a hot knife through butter and the taste was incredible. It's seriously made me want all my chicken to be spit-roasted as the seasoning just made it just tasted amazing! I was torn between the sweet potato and hand-cut chips, so I decided to go for the traditional hand-cut chips but I would love to see a combination of normal potato and sweet potato chips on the menu.

Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the pudding menu (not so Slimming World friendly but we'll just ignore that!). I was completely torn on what to order off the pudding menu, whilst there is a smaller choice, they all sound utterly decadent. In the end, I was torn between the Nutella cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake but because of how lovely and hot it was I decided to go for the Nutella cheesecake with a side of chocolate ice cream which OMG you have to go for the Nutella cheesecake alone!!

I am actually in love with Spitroast Kitchen, we came all the way over from the Wirral just to try out the menu and will definitely be travelling back over to try out the food very soon. From what I gathered on the night via my social media, Spitroast Kitchen is amazingly popular and not only can you eat in or order it to take home with you, you can also find them on Just Eat and Deliveroo making Spitroast Kitchen accessible to even more people! The only thing they need to do is open a restaurant over in the Wirral.

Have you visited Spitroast Kitchen before?

Speak to you next time!
