Behind The Blogger ~ Jessi Lou

Last month I featured the lovely Steph from Liv bloggers for my Behind The Brand series and I'm really excited to have my super sweet blogger bestie Jess involved with my first Behind The Camera post! If you haven't caught the concept, Behind The Camera is for some of my favourite bloggers and vloggers and Behind The Brand is some of my favourite brands.

I met Jess at my first event with The Body Shop Birkenhead over 8 months ago which is insane, I feel like I've known this girly forever and I consider her one of my closest blogger friends. Even when I'd only known her 4 months, she surprised me with a birthday card and present which genuinely nearly made me cry, it was so sweet of her!

If you haven't found Jess yet, where have you been?! She is a gorgeous lifestyle, beauty and travel blogger from Liverpool. Her blog is the perfect little bit of everything and has enough travel to make you want to book your next holiday!

Introduce yourself
Hi guys, I am Jess from Jessi Lou Blog. I'm 27 and live in Liverpool with my hubby. I'm actually from the Wirral, but most people outside of Merseyside have never heard of here, it's only across the River Mersey from Liverpool.

Tell us about JessiLouBlog & how you started it
Jessi Lou Blog started about 18 months ago. Blogging is something I have wanted to do for years, and I regret not initially starting it 5 years ago when I was working in Hong Kong for 6 weeks. In the end, I just took the leap and set it up and it's one of the best decisions I ever made. I love to write and I love to meet new people and blogging has brought these 2 things into my life, as well as the opportunity to get more involved with things I love, like city life, makeup and travelling.

Who are your favourite bloggers & why?
My absolute favourite blogger is Victoria from In The Frow. I know she is a big time blogger but honestly, her whole outlook and aesthetic is what I aim for. Her career is just GOALS to me; she is brilliant at what she does and is a very aspirational person for a small blogger like myself to look up to.

If you had one piece of advice for anyone wanting to start a blog,
what would it be?
Just Do It (to use the Nike slogan there). I'd say go for it, you never know where it may take you, I took too many years deciding whether to or not. It opens so many doors if you are willing to work hard at it and you do meet so many lovely people, like Danielle (no, she didn't pay me to say that!).

When you set up your site, write down at least 20 ideas of blog topic and go from there, that way you'll have a good few weeks under your belt in ideas, this will help you get in the flow of things, and also help you to discover what it is that you enjoy writing about.

What is the one trend you would like to bring back in 2017?
Tracksuits. No, not the velvet juicy couture type, but a full on Reebok or Adidas tracksuit. So many of my teenage years were spent hanging out in a Lacoste or Adidas tracky and I remember loving them and being so comfy. I'd love to do a full shopping day in one. In fact, I do have my eye on a cute black and white Adi Original one, Katy Perry style (google it, I love it!!).

What are your goals for 2017?
My blogging goals for 2017 are to create a new site for myself with my own domain name. Also, to get my blog and social media out there to more people, which will hopefully lead to some awesome collaborations and contacts with brands.

But personal goals for me in 2017 would be to travel a bit more, see some new places, and generally spend more time for my family and friends. Life gets so busy sometimes and you can forget to make plans and you end up just living out a friendship over Whatsapp, so I'm making a conscious effort for lots of meals & days out.

What are your top three places you want to visit?
I love this question, as I'm such a travel day-dreamer. I want to see so many places in the world, but let's narrow it down to achievable places for me to see in the next year or so. Bavaria in Germany, definitely, I want to see Neuschwanstein Castle so badly. Nashville in the US, me and my hubby really want to head here and then tour a few other southern states, we both love country music. Then finally, Santorini, I love Greece and have been to so many places but never Santorini, it looks like a total dream so I would love a week here to explore the old cobbled streets and white cliffside towns.

What is your must-have beauty product?
My must-have beauty product is definitely a good moisturiser. I couldn't go a day without using it on my face. I use quite a few different ones, but Charlotte Tilbury's Magic cream is brilliant, Clinique Moisture Surge is lovely, and for a cheaper option use Garnier Day cream. Another must have product is lipstick, I just think a lipstick can change your whole look. If you're feeling down about your outfit, or tired after work but you're heading out then throw on some gorgeous lipstick and you're ready to rock anything!

Who else would you like to see in my Behind The...?

Speak to you next time!
